Aviation3295 -I took the carpet out. I wish I had it back. I don't want to rhinoline because I like the carpet.
-Started taking bottom plate covering Cat and double threaded a screw. Now I only have 2 and I know it isn't bad at all, but it still urks me....

Dittos on the Harley comment. Fortunately my 08 Anniversary Ultra Classic had everything on it that I would have wanted... including a Baker reverse. As for the regret, I shouldn't have waited till age 50 to buy my first Jeep. I'm loving my 98 TJ.

Jacqui My only regret so far in relation to our 06 LJ Rubi is... Renting an apartment instead of a house with a garage. We need a garage for our Jeep projects and a hoist for our hardtop. That sucker is a beast to carry around.

And of course, I wish my hubby and I had managed to get our hands on the LJ sooner since we've really been enjoying it together. But we're only 10 months into our marriage, so I suppose that's not too much time wasted.

Trendsetter75 I regret buying the Rough Country 3.25 lift kit, and white wagon wheels.
10-28-2012 07:59 AM
docleary Installing 2.5 inch Rough Country lift on my LJ year and a half ago-all 4 springs have dropped a good inch or so, rear end is now rubbing my pocket flares. Should have & will be going with a better brand soon!

Xavierss My regret was building a Dana 30 and 45 when I could have gotten tons in the first time

MJRob I regret letting my husband talk me into getting half doors instead of full doors. Rainy climate and mystery leaks from the inserts don't make me to happy at times so now it's either buying new inserts or full doors for the winter. But the half doors are nice in the summer.

Moabrubi I'm so glad that i do all my research before buying something so i don't have anything to add to this thread.

lovemachine I'll play.

In 2005, I drove my first ever Wrangler. It was a Sport, and my mom had just bought it. I got excited. I couldn't stop driving it. Heck, I refused to stop driving it. The very next day, I went to the dealership to trade my 99 Dodge Ram Sport.

I was just too excited. I didn't do my research. I actually chose a White Sport over a Rubicon. I could have gotten blue or Orange. But at the time, I thought the Sport was better because it had better (faster) acceleration.

I ended up putting a 4 inch Skyjacker Value Lift on with 33 inch tires.

I regret not getting the Rubicon. I regret not getting the SYE. But, I'm not trading my white sport. Its all paid off. I own it. And I still love it. I'm currently saving for the SYE. Then I plan on getting better axles, and do a regear.

wwch99tj I regret buying the KC H4 headlights

I just put in my 3rd replacement set of these KC H4 headlights. Supposedly this set is from a new batch... if these fade you'll see a picture of me running them over in my driveway!

jasonjjv Buying a Full Traction lift kit trying to save a couple bucks and ended up replacing half of the parts with new stuff like adj control arms. Should have spent the extra money for a top notch system.

calrain07 Installing my tail light guards . After months of improper grounding, and it falling off every time I wheeled, I finally did some metal work to fix the holes that had been ripped apart.

I have a few regrets on many of the ways I inititally built my previous TJ...

-Upgraded the rear drum brakes using Tera's conversion kit. No braking improvement.

-Rubicon Express 4.5" long-arm suspension. The long arms kept getting hung up on the trail and the RE Monotube shocks were only good for very slow-speed desert road driving.

-Installing a locker into its rear Dana 35c axle. The rear axle broke apart 6 weeks later.

-Changed from aluminum to steel wheels. My local desert rocks continually had their way with the steel wheels and constantly dented and bent them.

-Installed nerf bars instead of rocker guards. The rocks just tore up those nerf bars.

-Installed aluminum wheels with too little (3.25") backspacing which made my TJ look like a skateboard.

-Installed 4.10 gearing for 33" tires with 4.0L engine and 5-speed transmission, I should have gone 4.56.

Those are the first things that come to mind but there are more.
Glad you mentioned this regarding the RE Long-arms... I've got an RC 4" SA kit and have been eyeing an RE LA kit because the ride quality with my current setup is horrendous. However, this is the first time I've heard negative comments regarding the RE LA kit. Are there better 4-5" LA kits that you would recommend?

Also, can you expand on your comment about the RE shocks -- are you saying they are too hard or too soft? I've got RC hydros and was planning to replace with RE's if/when I do the LA upgrade..

Thanks
