wont pass safety/emissions:
front tires stick out too far
frame height is 2" too tall (26")
needs a muffler
needs a parking brake
needs a third brake light
CEL - needs new o2 sensor
window tint too dark

they installed a new exhaust
installed a new 02 sensor
installed mud flaps

they ordered a new parking brake but it was the wrong one, i have to take it back next week so they can put the correct one on.

they ordered some jerry rigged 3rd brake light. told them i didnt care for it till i got my spare tire carrier installed.

as far as everything else; the place they took it to passed it.
i already asked if its ok to bring it back to him every year to get safety/IM done on it, he said thats ok.

any "fix it tickets" i may get must be corrected/paid for by the dealer. state law here in utah. would imagine its like that way everywhere??

anyways, ive got the darn thing.

Yea, I'm in with smeg. That thing looks like a treasure.

i bought the jeep!! i FINALLY have a jeep!! ive been saying i was going to do it for years now, but oh well, i have one now and thats all that matters.

i actually dont have it yet. like the dealer promised, he is fixing all the things i asked him to.
the new exhaust system was completed today. they are waiting for the parts to come in for the parking brake and the third brake light.
they said possibly tomorrow i will be done, but im not going to get my hopes up until they call me and tell me its ready.

i will put some pics up as soon as i can. hopefully this weekend! too bad there is too much snow up in my neck of the woods, otherwise i would take her out and have some fun somewhere.

Triple88a for the wider tires, they need more bs rims (remember the smaller bs number, the more the tires stick out)
02-09-2008 06:37 PM
spanky as far as frame height goes, Teraflex Plus said theyve seen places just air down the tires and then measure it.

its going to a shop on monday to get a muffler, third brake light installed, new o2 sensor, parking brake fixed, Safety and I/M done. all on his dime.

im just wondering what they have in mind on doing to make the wider tires pass safety ??
02-09-2008 01:15 PM
Triple88a as far as the frame height, put on some limiting straps and when you're through the emissions you can pull them off or also you can remove the coil spacers and put on adjustable ones.
02-09-2008 01:11 PM
Triple88a lol more bs rims will fix it right.

oh oh i think thats the reason why they only had it 1 year each at the time. They bought it, got the emissions request thing a year after and saw it doesn't pass and sold it. Same thing with the next person and the next one.

dealer said he would cover all these issues at no cost to me.
Make sure they don't "fix" the tire sticking out problem by putting on thinner tires
02-09-2008 05:34 AM
bpowa good luck on the next smog after that.
02-08-2008 11:05 PM
spanky he said he would do what it takes to make it pass.

im game for it if he does
02-08-2008 11:03 PM
Triple88a if the dealer is willing to make it pass emissions i'd go for it. This thing seems like a treasure.
02-08-2008 10:52 PM
spanky more bad news:

most of the aftermarket stuff installed that required welding was done very poorly
front bump stops were replaced with aluminum ones
no rear bump stops
rear axle truss not sufficiently braced
transfer case is supposedly leaking ( i didnt see anything)

im hearing a weird noise, maybe a transfer case problem but probably a driveshaft issue
also hearing a whining noise under the hood. could possibly be the K&N FIPK ? maybe?
