|Joxwar||I am recent to Jeep ownership, heard that you are supposed to wave so I do and I get a lot of waves back here in Chicagoland from Jeep owners. Getting a wave is definitely not common amongst the Chicagoans, so I think the Jeep wave is a serious statement. I would agree that you don't get waves much from people in their gansta jeeps who just think they are 'cool'.|

It seems these days that the only jeeps that wave back are the ones that are trail hardened or the old men that have the pre CJ jeeps. The new jeeps are almost becoming a fashion statement. They don't even have any parking lot dings. I still wave at every jeep that deserves it (has been on a trail more than once). I wanted to know how many people still wave and what the requirements some people have to wave to a passing jeep. Thanks just want some input from some fellow jeepers.

Seriously, nobody waves here in Utah, so it's not a problem. I think because if you ain't driving a Subaru you're in a JKU. Don't think those folks get it.
Florida was different about 80% wave factor.

Okay, after posting the smiley I realized that he needed a Jeep hat to make it an "Official Jeep Wave"...

Had my new rig for a week now. Passed one Wrangler a day, at least. Models vary, but I've waved to each and every one of them. Nothing yet... I won't give up though. One thing I've seen, at least from spending the last few months reading through this forum, is that there are a lot of good Jeepers out there. Everyone on here seems so incredibly supportive, friendly, and positive. Those are the folks I hope I'm waving to...
If there are any fellow travelers cruising the Twin Cities north metro and you see some idiot in a 2014 JK Unlimited Sport in granite waving... Wave back!

|barretf||I used to wave to everyone, but that all ended when i was broke down on 80 West and like 20 jeeps cruzed on by and not one asked if i needed a hand. i used to always stop and always ask a fellow jeeper in distress if they needed a hand. i carry a lot of tools and parts in my jeep and have helped and even given people parts or a tool (vice grips lol the tool of the gods) if needed, (unless it was a JK) and what did i get in return ZERO ZILCH NODDA.|

|RoadiJeff||I wave to anyone who initiates it, regardless of what vehicle they're driving. However, I only pay attention to what other Wrangler drivers are doing, so if I don't return a wave from someone one else it is because I didn't notice it, not because I'm snubbing them.|

|Cricketboy||I only get Wranglers and old Cherokees to return the Jeep wave around here. I have never received a return wave from a Compass, Liberty, Commander, or any other type of Jeep.|

|Bbannongmu||Waved while driving my wife's Chevy Traverse the other day. Luckily I knew the guy and he waved back. Gotta get the wife a Wrangler now to avoid that mistake.|

Ah yes, the Jeep wave. I knew about it before hand; I am a motorcyclist and a Vette owner, so I am familiar with waving to like vehicles.
So I got my new (to me) Jeep a few days ago. First time out, I wave to three other Wranglers after about an hour into my travels. Not a single wave returned. In the couple of days after, not a single Wrangler has waved. Ok, got it. I will wave if someone waves to me I guess. But not gonna bother to wave to people who don't get it. Reminds me of Harley riders who won't wave to us sportbike riders. I swore off waving to Harley riders a while ago. I guess a motorcycle isn't a motorcycle to them unless it is a Harley. But I will wave back to other Jeeps if they wave. Now Vette owners, they always wave, regardless of the generation, C3, C4, whatever, they all wave.

|Orange Krusher||I wave 99.9% of the time (.1% I might be daydreaming). I wave on highway across divider.... I also wave at night! My husband said to me (last night) that he thought it was amusing I wave at night and said "you know they can't see you?"|

This probably has been answered somewhere in the thread, but i'm in a tl;dr kinda' situation.
Regardless, what's the general etiquette for waving across the medium on the highway? Normally i would normally say it's a no-go, but i saw a pretty awesome lime green rig a few months ago across the medium and he held his hand out the window to get his wave in. Was thrilled that i caught it, would have felt like an @ss if i didn't wave back.
I've also gotten a few other waves from across the medium. Some jeeps i can see inside the cab, some i can't. It depends on sun glare and such. But generally, do you wave across the medium?

But also said, "that's just mean not to wave just 'cause this one is new and no stickers"....I need to explain the difference between stickers and MODs

|AutobotWrangler||I dont know about all you folks, but after getting hit with about 6 eggs while sitting in my topless jeep the other day, i finally put my soft top on for protection. and as for waving goes, i have a fake arm that i keep next to my driver seat and when i go doorless, i hold the arm out. Also I'm in the process of coming up with a concept mechanical waving arm.|
