Tomert Thanks for the advice. I had the heater core replaced. It ran around $650 because I do not have air. No more fogged windows

98tj.steven i remember when that happen to me the heater core was bad. replaced it myself. Was a lot of work but beats the 750 bucks!

You might consider pumping some stop-leak through the heater core only. Not much to loose if it doesn't work.

KrzyMoke When they replace it be sure they clean all the "Factory Coating" off. When they did mine, they forgot and it stunk for a week. Really sucked!

Jerry Bransford Yep that sounds exactly like your heater core has sprung a leak. That's not an easy repair, the entire dash has to come out to get to the heater core, so the $750 price doesn't really surprise me.

Heater Core and coolant smell?

I have plenty of heat in my 98 TJ but there is a slight smell of coolant. I first noticed some extra condensation on the inside of the windows on cold days. I had the core checked and it seems to be OK but there is an obvious smell so some coolant is getting in. A local shop wants $750 with labor to replace. Any thoughts on this?? Thanks
