BDOEDEN Here's the next question is it front wheel drive or rear wheel drive!!!! Just kidding I would have loved to have that vehicle at 16!!

cooprdawg Guys, it is a 2 wheel drive, they made 2 wheel drives only in unlimiteds. The reason you probably don't know about them is because hardly any one bought them. The only people that bought them were dummies. I know I bought it but you will never find a jeep with this much money put into it with everything I liked and wanted. It would be cool if I had 4wd but it's not a necessity for me. I mean this thing has a $6,000 supercharger. That's nearly half the price that I bought the vehicle for. I would never have expected so much controversy!

This.

Or buy another JK, transfer the lift and super charger, and call it a day....

maybe you could take his lift and tires off his jeep and put them on yours. then you guys could share. you would get your lift and he would get his 4 wheel drive.

Barmanvarn I could have sworn the salesman asked me if I wanted the 2wd option when ordering my 2012. Regardless I do know that he mentioned they were made. Still no idea why.

Who knows here is a quote on the wikipedia page.

"Unlimited has the same engine and transmission choices as a short-wheelbase JK. X and Sahara trims offer an option of 4x2 rear-wheel drive in the U.S.A. It is the only four-door convertible available in the U.S., since the Hummer H1 with optional rag-top is no longer sold."

Still not sure which years they offered the "option".

InvertChaos Would swapping in a front axle, t case, and new driveshafts be worth it I wonder.

GoldenSahara00 I just wanted to point out that am open differential sends equal power to both wheels at all times not just one wheel. However because they have to be equal, when one wheel is spinning the amount of power sent to the other wheel is next to nothing. But not only one wheel is under power.
