Agree'd for sound, but the stock ecm is capable of making AFR adjustments on it's own for the increased flow based on feedback from the stock O2 sensors. Buying a flash tuner for a V6 would be a waste of $ IMO, if one was even available for the 3.6

I'm fairly new to my JK and exhausts in general...will a catback exhaust kit cut this loop out (which we obviously don't want to do)?

MarshallbrewJK I'll most likely leave mine stock, unless I fabricate a turbo setup. Although, I've put a Borla on just about every vehicle I've owned.

Won't be flamed by me because I agree most V6 exhausts sound horrible. I did hear one on a 3.8 a month ago and I really wish I would have followed the guy and found out what it was because it had a nice deep tone without the rice sound. So its hard but not impossible to make them sound nice.

Blackened Ok so I have heard Gibson and Dynomax. Who wants to try out a Banks setup?

New2012JEEP I can put mine on way home tonight, but...Will a mytouch 4G give the sound quality you are looking for?

Blackened Bump for more clips.

Yeah there is but most of your power comes from headers if you could swap them. High flow cats and mufflers are blaaahh in the performance category and are more for altering sound then anything else. Personally I think noise on any engine besides a v8 and up dosent sound pleasing so im going to leave my jeep alone.

Thanks for the link. Thats actually not bad for a v6 and less rice sounding than a magnaflow imo.

otnewt I recently went through a little exhaust mania and went to a local muffler shop to just have them build an exhaust system for me because all I really wanted was dual tips but to keep the sound as close to stock as possible.

They cut out the resonator that is in the middle of the jeep and took off the stock muffler behind the axle. Put a turbo style muffler in the place of the resonator and put a splitter after the axle to get the dual tips out the back.
Turbo muffler sounded like crap when accelerating but wasnt bad when cruising. But it had to go.

So I went back and had a Magnaflow 18" 5x8 oval muffler put in its place. (not sure what I was thinking at the time, but whatever..)
It got even louder but sounded a LOT better but had a slight drone while cruising.

So I went back and got another magnaflow 14" by 4" round put on behind the other magnaflow and it has quieted it down a little and sounds a lot better (atleast enough to make me not hate driving) and still has a little bit of a drone when at highway speeds.

If anyone in North TX with a 2012 JKU wants to swap for their stock mid pipe with resonator, let me know

positrak I'm looking at this, just to tweak the sound a bit. Not really wanting anything too loud but something to bring it to life. Brand new not even on their own site yet. They're up the road from me, which saves plus their reputation is without question:

I'm with you on this topic. I want to relocate the muffler, so that it isn't a target while rock crawling. If I can get a descent muffler relocation setup that adds some torque, that would be great. If not, I'm mainly interested in just the relocation. I don't need a louder Jeep.
