DeFazio looks like someone should be investing in a winch right about now... check out the quadratec brand, I'm about to preorder the 9k lb, it's badass

cadenas No pics of the recovery since he pulled me out so fast. Here's one of the jeep before getting washed. It was worse on the right side. I was able to go very 10 MPH with out the Heep shaking since my wheels were full of mud

cadenas Thanks to all of you for the advice and help. I finally got pulled out today by jku Rubicon that had a winch, I believe 35inch tires. Took him less than 5 minutes to pull me out. Nothing got messed up in my jeep that I know off, my wheels are unbalanced due to all the mud in them. Tomorrow that will be fixed

Kramerpaul Buy a bunch of ant killer first, spread it around, then start digging again, like advised before. Without digging, only a catapiller on tracks will pull it out horizontilly, and this would require so much force that could damage your Jeep. Better to dig. The big chains/cable/straps and a good come to a nearby tree is the least expensive option. But you must dig.

Vroooom You've got another rain-cell hitting any time now, and it'll last about an hour.

Then more rain on Friday and Saturday.

The last thing to dry will be the holes your wheels dug.

Second to last will be the wheel ruts around the area.

Your jeep is sunk too low to mount a winch.

Going forward or backward wont gotta go UP...and get off your belly.

Get a tractor out there. to lift and tug.

cadenas There a drainage in front my jeep but after that its solid ground. Looks like my jeep is going to be sitting there a few day till it dries out. If any one want to attempt I will greatly appreciated it

staud11 Dang man if I wasn't working I would love to come and attempt to help... I don't have a winch but I've pulled trucks out of stuff similar to that. Keep us posted I may be able to come out later!!

jamesS Bladder to do the lift then liquid nitrogen to freeze the base....OK..OK...just trying to think out side the box!!

madkinstx Man I feel for you. You might post an ad in Craigslist to see if someone with a capable vehicle can help. Or as someone above said rent a tractor. Good luck man I hope you get her out in time for next S A jeep meeting.

cadenas We tried the hi lift and floor jacks. we put wood down there but it would still sink in. We actually had a tractor try to you'll is out but it was to small to do anything for us. Maybe by the time the winch get here the mud will dry some up. My jeep is covered by ants. What my rear tire broke through was a huge ant hill. So I have plenty of ant bites now
02-05-2012 12:54 PM
DeFazio do you have a hi lift or farm jack? jack her up and put plywood or 2x4 under the tires to create a solid platform and try to drive as far as you can. make sure you make a base for the jack out of something with a lot of surface area like wood
02-05-2012 12:53 PM
jamesS Damn man...did you get out???
02-05-2012 12:52 PM
Vroooom Winch wont help you much.

When that dirt gets wet its like a bog and is very VERY difficult to escape.

Cheaper than buying a a tractor from Home Depot.

That and a $20 tow-strap (go for one rated to better than 15,000#).

All three vehicles will be out by dark.

cadenas Yea I been stuck there since yesterday morning. Had 6 different vehicles come help but most got stuck before getting to me. We now have 2 Jeeps one f150 stuck over night. We haven't even tried to get my jeep out, more worried about the others that came to help. No tow service will come and help us because of the trail they need to go through. I'm ordering a winch right now and hope it will pull me out. There big trees in front of me. So looks like my jeep is going to be out there a few days. Hopefully we get the other jeep and f150 out today.

Vroooom Im 100 miles away and I have no winch, and factory street tires .

So all I can offer is ideas....sorry.

I see the rear tires have spun (and dug-in) but the front tires seem clean. Is 4wd not working?

Mud clods on the hood make me think a 2nd vehicle has already tried to pull it out. How far are you from firm ground?

It looks like you slid off a trail and have the nose in the outer wheel rut. If you move towards the rut you will get into more need to move away from the rut...which means going backward, not forward.

Your biggest hurdle is that you are bottomed-out on the belly and that is creating additional resistance...and adding heat to your tranny.

Get a shovel and start digging it out. Dig ramps about 2feet long in behind each tire so that as it moves rearward, itll move upward.

You might benefit from a T-post ($10). Drive it 18" into the ground about 10 feet behind the Jeep. Get a $30 "come-along" (Manual mechanical winch). Attach the mechanism-end hook as close to ground level as possible on the T-post. Attach the other hook to the rear recovery hook on the rear of the jeep. Start wrenching on the come-along. Odds are, that black gumbo clay wont hold and the post will just pull out of the ground.

Another possiblity.....get a jack and 5ea 2x6 boards. Use one board under the jack so it doesnt sink. Start jacking. slip the other boards under the jeep as often as you can...slow progress.

You are looking at a long day of hard work...and you're gonna get dirty. Take several friends, and make sure you take a girl too....she can take photos for us.

Next month you can tell stories of how you got your jeep stuck in a box-canyon and had to hike for two days to get the national guard to come lift you out with a Chinook.

Its all part of the experience. enjoy it.
