Rovercross I know my JK's windshield days are numbered. When a bug hits a Jeep's windshield you know it scares the hell out of you.

Just ask for the Mopar glass. They will not put it in for you unless you ask for it. My brother did it on his a while back. Same deductible and you get to keep your little jeep in the corner.

RJL1 I have multiple hits on our 2010. The first came just after I hit a deer with it at 1300 miles, a few weeks after I bought it. To date I think we have 3 hits. Had them all filled and they haven't cracked any further. Just bullseyes.

n3tfury had 3 replaced on my 2012 before 15k. Now on my 2014 almost got to 12k before two large cracks. Gonna leave them for a bit though.

toms In Kentucky all carriers must replace glass with no deductible. Also can not be counted as a claim.

they fill it only for free. If its larger than a dollar bill they will replace it but it will cost you your deductible. Ive had geico on my now sold H2 and FJ Cruiser, and now on the jeep. < 100 deductible is the way to go there.

ibwile I went through 2 TJ windshields in a month, and then about 125,000 miles without an issue. Just the luck of the draw I suppose.

Geico full auto and I don't worry about it. Free glass replacement, they come to you. Can always switch to the plastic- looks good and crazy tough.

I am sure I'll blow the JK windshield at some point too.

Twice in 60 Days

Unreal..I know I live in Denver and drive to the mountains almost every weekend, but 2 cracked windshields on my 2013 Jeep Wrangler in 60 days? Glad the sales guy sold me 3 replacements for $299. I would never buy another Jeep without the coverage

+1

I've been doing this for years...it's cheap, it's easy and you can fix cracks up to 4" long if you're careful and use enough epoxy at the right temperature. Cheaper than the extra insurance too.

You're good to go w/ Geico when it comes to cracked windshields.

LordQuas I had my first one on the second day of owning it, and I have 3 now I think...under 4k. My city's solution to winter is to dump rocks on all the freeways

REAPLLC Has anyone tried ClearPlex Jeep Wrangler Windshield Protection Kit?

dvitous On windshield #4 on my '99 wrangler.

At least they aren't horribly expensive... and the auto-glass place comes to me.

That is awesome. I didn't know there was a DIY version. I'm paying $20 every 3 or 4 weeks to have mine fixed every time I get a rock thrown at me. Hopefully someone up here in Canada sells something like this. I do some checking.

Azjeepgrl35 My windshield cracked at 200 miles. Once again at at 7000 miles not happy!! Had a TJ for 10 years and never had to replace my windshield, only a small ding that was fixed the same day. Ugh..

JackdUp I know this may be a Jeep nostalic look, but why hasn't Jeep considered to slighly angle the windshield to reduce the amount of chips, cracks etc, while improving aerodynamics for better gam mileage? (or have they?) A 2" tilt isn't extreme.

kpeoples Factory mopar windshield installed with the Jeep grill. Looks as good as new :-}
02-07-2012 08:49 PM
kpeoples Called the insurance company this morning and they are going to replace it on Friday. Also I made sure to ask for dealer glass (OEM). They don't give it to you unless you ask :-/

I have Geico also. I'm lucky I had my 09 for 3 months before a rock flew up and cracked the windshield. I called Geico and they came to my house and replaced my windshield two days later. With the angle of the windshield, I'm surprised it's only been replaced once LOL.

Susiee hahaa Second Wind is right..it is a jeep thing
mine got cracked over the weekend I'm guessing because this morning i was leaving for school when i noticed mine was cracked too but its from the top to the bottom of the windshield):

Second Wind Now, THIS is a JEEP thing for sure! With such an upright windshield, a rock impacts at nearly a 90 degree angle. Our YJ is pock marked - big chips, little chips. I buy the cheap windshield repair kits from Wally World and fix them as soon as I get them, before they spread. The '09 JK was no different. I fixed about 4 chips in that windshield in the year I had it. At 380 miles, the new one has yet to be chipped. But it will. And its not always someone else's vehicle tossing rocks. Some of the chips I've gotten have been from rocks chucked up into the air by the front tires that fall right into the windshield. You'll find that if you tailgate a lot, you get rewarded with more rock chips too. Been there....lesson learned.

ESP 23K on my 2010 no cracks "knock on wood"
02-06-2012 08:10 PM
Weed Hopper Just had mine replaced this afternoon. I've got just over 28k mi. Got my first chip at 1300 mi. Had 2 other chips before this last hit caused a crack. I could live with the chips but the crack was spreading so had to be replaced.

jp2611 Sad to say but that straight up and down (almost) windshield will make you think about how you drive--or it should. Follow to close on a bad road=bad news.

Had my Tj's replaced last winter 130K at the time. My Jk so far so good ------I am beating on the coffee table (knock on wood)
02-06-2012 07:14 PM
ColdSRT Mine was destroyed at 5k. Multiple crack and bullseyes. I'm going to be replacing it with poly if the guy that got one on the forum works out.
02-06-2012 07:12 PM
Another Guy In A Jeep My windshield has never been cracked? Iv only put about 3k miles on it myself but still...lol must be something about the angle of the windshield vs the rock so the chance of deflection is pretty low.
02-06-2012 07:07 PM
j.luis 8K sounds pretty good I was under 5k when it happened....
