OK, so I didn't read this whole thread.
Only ONE question to the folks having this issue - Is your steering wheel centered?
If not, the easy fix is to adjust the drag link to center the wheel. Post back if your wheel isn't centered and I'll (or someone) will post how to get your steering wheel centered which will fix this problem.

My 99 does the same thing turning right and I am pretty shure it is a broken cam at the switch,I just look like a idiot when I forget to turn it off manualy.

|my98tj||mine does this turning left and right. i guess i never really thought that much enough about it to fix it. i guess i'm just lazy. good to know what it is if i ever want to replace it.|

Your canceling cam spring is broken. It is a switch like item on the 2001 and up that I am most familiar with (my own).
I believe you have the Shaginaw steering column (made by GM). A locksmith can replace this item (same tools required to replace the lock cylinder) easily enough. Go to the Stealership and ask for a printout of the "Turn Signal Harness assy" and you'll see the two funcky shaped springs on eitherside.
You have to have a column locking plate compressor tool to remove the locking plate (locks the steering column in park) without thise you stand to hurt yourself badly trying to remove it any otherway.

|sgnellett||If you continue to turn back past center, towards left, it still won't cancel the signal, right? IIRC, there is sort of a tab for each direction on the collar that goes around the column. It wasn't a Jeep, but I had a similar issue once before, I swapped out the switch, problem solved. However, mine didn't have an airbag on the wheel, so popping off the wheel was much simpler. Might be worth having a dealership (other than the one you've already talked to) swap it out, unless you know someone who is experienced enough to pull that airbag-equipped wheel off. If you accidentally set off that bag, there goes the $$ you saved doing the work yourself!|

|jonbugh||No, it will never turn off when I turn right and then straighten the wheels back out. I manually have to turn the turn signal off. The steering wheel is perfectly straight and the Wrangler is 100% stock. Like I said, when I am turning left, it works properly, just not when I go right.|

Does it shut off at all though? Like i said when you turn right ALL the way and turn on your blinker.. when you turn back to straight does it turn off?
Is your steering wheel crooked when your jeep is going straight?

|jonbugh||Exactly. When I turn right, as in a normal turn, then straighten the wheels out, the turn signal does not go off. When I turn left, it functions normally and does turn off on its own.|

|AzTJ||Do you have a lift that is making your steering wheel off center? That would be the only other cause... but there is a cancel cam/spring in the steering column as well. Those guys at the dealer probably don't know squat.|

Turn Signals don't turn off
I have a 1998 Wrangler and when I use the left turn signal everything works fine, but when I turn right, the turn signal will not go off and I have to flip it off manually once I've turned. I've had this problem on various older Ford vehicles and it was always just the turn signal switch. I went to the Jeep dealership to buy a new switch, but they said it was a relay and not the switch. He didn't know what part was needed to fix this. Does anyone have any idea?
