Tightened all the grounds. Loosened and tried to snug down both battery terminals. Went for a drive and no wiper activation.
Get this, I park the Jeep, go back out an hour or so later and as soon as I start the Jeep! WIPERS!!!! Jheeeshh!

He said he started checking all the electrical and when he checked the ground terminal on his battery, it was just slightly loose.
I took my ground terminal off my battery and had to get some pliers to squeeze the battery terminal together and then put it back on my battery making sure to bottom it out on the battery terminal & then tighten.
Never had any more problems!

Also does anyone have part number for the multiple function switch/ turn signal switch..(2012 JKU Sport).
I am no longer under warranty so I want to fix this myself. Even though my jeep is only 2years and 2 month. I have 43k on it already.
Already had heater core replaced, and radiator, and thermostat due to casting sand issue.

|MI_Jeep||I own a 2012 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited that has had electrical issues since the day I drove it off the lot. The rear tail-light was the first thing to go and they replaced the wiring harness. Then before I reached 10K miles I had to have the heater core replaced and everything associated with it. Then I started having a plethora of phantom electrical issues. My power windows would work or not, and the windshield wipers would come on randomly. This past week my horn started blowing and would not turn off for up to a minute when I opened a door or used my keyless entry. They are replacing my turn signal switch and the TIPM. I am still waiting for the recall part from a year ago (even though I have been on the list from the day I got the notice). I am hopeful the replacement of the TIPM will solve a lot of the issues I have been having.|

|garyokc6||I hade conquered this problem. It took several actions but they finally replaced the wiper control arm on the steering column. I was sure it would not work but it has been several months and no problem. I went through the "we can't recreate the problem" routine as well. I opened a case with Chrysler and when that went nowhere I escalated the case. When They told me they could not find the problem again and I told Chrysler that I will take it back to the shop every week until they do. I made an appointment and waited on the car or had them call a cab for me. They finally fixed the problem. They will tell you that YOU ARE THE ONLY PERSON that has this problem but we all know better. I emailed them a link to this page as well. All said and done. It was the wiper yoke that solved the problem. DON'T GIVE UP!|

So it's been a few months and I think it's safe to say my mysterious wiper activation was finally solved. I went to pick up my Jeep from the dealer on a Monday morning after they had it for several days saying they couldn't do anything since they couldn't replicate. However I told him I wasn't going to start it up without the service manager watching... he actually started it up and surprise, surprise wipers go crazy, hi beams flickering, etc.
So they finally agreed to replace the stalks and the connecting harness. Had to wait weeks for it to come in and then another week after it arrived since the tech was on vacation that week (so was I but now I had to take more time off work to get it replaced the following week, couldn't believe that). Anyway thankfully all is well with the wipers after a long battle for them to take action. The original owner got a replacement Jeep because of this issue after 5 months, it was a buy back by Jeep corporate, never repaired, but sold to me over a year later with same problems... Now I know why it was low miles. Replacing the switch was all they had to do.
Good luck to others... I'm glad this issue is closed for me so I can enjoy the Jeep fully.

Update to my 2012 Sahara intermittent wiper problem: It's been a few weeks since they replaced the entire signal stalk. So far so good. Based on others' posts, it looks like that was the problem all along.
To provide some background... I've had this problem for almost two years since purchased new in 2012. The first time I took it in, they dismissed it as "unable to replicate." Continued to occur, so convinced them to replace TIPM regardless of not being able to replicate the problem. That didn't work. Losing my patience, I took it in again a few weeks ago and they claimed they were able to replicate the problem this time and replaced the turn signal stalk.
Incidentally, now I'm getting a Check Engine light (coded as P0304), but this is most likely unrelated and a different thread.
Love my JK, but slowly falling out of love with all these time-sucking trips to the dealer. Still within standard warranty, but I'm feeling like a genius for having purchased the extended factory warranty.

Has anyone heard of this trick (please correct me if not right). I started up my 2012 Wrangler and the windshield wipers came on and I could not turn them off (they were already in the off position). After some research, my husband texted me this trick he found online:
1. Turn off the Jeep, take key out and then turn it back on.
2. Pull out the fog lamp switch to the "on" position.
3. Turn the wipers on and then off.
It worked! They turned off.
My problem is that we could not find the solution online and I am not certain these are the exact steps. I am kicking myself for not writing them down. Let me know if you have success or if the steps are different.

A multi-function switch takes about 10 minutes to replace. I swapped it when my wipers went to one speed and could not find the return to home. Turns out it was the wiper motor. I swapped it. I now have a smaller problem. The wipers whip back a couple of inches as it returns the home. i will figure that one out after it warms up a bit.

So I have been following this thread for a few months because I have this problem on my 2011 JKU since I purchased it used (Jeep dealership) in April 2013) and I am glad to see that 1) I am not completely alone in this phantom issue 2) some of you at least have finally been able to get it fixed.
My symptoms are the same, wipers turn on randomly. Mostly at ignition, but also during turning (with or without me activating turn signal), sometimes seem to be triggered by some other dash light going on like low fuel light, Hi-beam, etc. Usually when it is stuck in this "shorting out" mode at initial ignition it is always paired with: interior lights won't activate, fog lights flicker randomly, hi-beams flicker randomly, dash illumination is not adjustable and is set at lowest value, washer fluid sprays randomly, wipers won't turn off or speed up if I activate them intentionally. Sometimes I am stuck in this state for several minutes before things settle out and restarting ignition doesn't seem to clear it, just have to let it clear itself.
I took it in finally in August because, in addition, the cruise control started to rarely respond. They replaced the Clock Spring which fixed the cruise control however, did nothing for the wiper issue. Finally took it back in this week and dealer is telling me that there are no error codes therefore there is nothing they can do. I have quoted this forum trying desperately for them to at least replace something (i.e. multi-function switch as many have mentioned) but they keep telling me they can't replace parts without an error code. I keep making the argument that is BS since by that logic, even if they watch it freak out in their shop but no error code is logged then they wouldn't be able to replace anything.
The service manager is very nice and being very professional and I am trying to return that courtesy while still standing my ground...it will continue to fail and never log an error code so it makes no sense to me to do NOTHING. I'm waiting on today's update from them to see if they got it to freak out in front of them so that maybe they will finally take action.
Turns out also that my "used" JKU was a dealer "buyback", now I am worried that the previous owner had the same battle and got fed up with it...however, I'll never know, they are telling me they are not allowed to disclose details of the buyback.
Good luck to others with this issue, thanks to those that have shared their battles.
...final note, love my JKU, had a 97 TJ for 10 years and I finally feel normal again having given it up in 2006, despite this headache.

|GeckoJK||Took my Jeep in for some service and mentioned the wiper issue. They replaced my turn signal stock as it seemed to have a problem. So far it hasn't happened since it was replaced.|

|Boddah||I didnt read the whole thread so forgive me if the problem has been solved, but after reading the OP I had the EXACT same problem in my 3500 Dodge ram. The solution was to change out the whole turn signal stalk and module. On the dodge it was a pain in the ass to do.|

|blkunlmtd9||So after fighting with service dept, they hooked me up and changed both the signal and the wiper tree. NOW, my rear driver side signal is out and it's not the bulb.... Fml.|

|blkunlmtd9||Is the TIPM what the service advisor calls the control module, or is that a different part? I was having issues with my clock where it would slow down a minute or so every day, and there was a bulletin out for it. they changed my "control module" and that is around the time when i started having these issues....just a coincidence, or could I have gotten a faulty module installed???|

|Mclunk||So I got it back today, they replaced the wiper multi-function switch. They said they found that it was faulty, only time will tell if it is "fixed". I have to take it back in so they can replace the heater core, which was plugged with casting sand.|

|blkunlmtd9||Im having the same exact problem with my 2012 JKU sport. starting going off once when I hit the turn signal....now they just take a few swipes out of nowhere as well!! Took it into the shop and they said they couldn't reproduce it and had no error codes. NOW my 36K warranty is up and I called the service dept to try and look into it AGAIN bc its getting worse and worse|

|BigMike62||This has been a problem for quite a while. It happened on my '09. They changed the wiper stalk/switch and it still happened. Then they changed out the wiper motor itself which fixed the issue.|
