My wife noted the other day that she now gets more waves since she installed the reindeer antlers and Rudolph nose on her Jeep.

|muchomacho||I am so glad to hear all of you jeepers are keeping the wave going. I just moved to South Florida and bought my 4th Jeep. I wave to everybody. tj's yj's four doors, stock or mod I love to wave. But I'll be honest people down here don't wave back. Maybe 1 in 15 is waving. The rest are stuck on their phones or look at me like I'm trying to start a fight. Keep the wave going.|

|flowerfistandbestialwail||Jeep waves are slim here in the winter. We get crazy long daylight hours in the summer but in the winter it's the exact opposite, so unless you're out during working hours from October - March (and most folks aren't because they have jobs to pay for their jeep obsession ) you're pretty much SOL. I've gotten maybe two waves in the last month as a result|

I actually went five for five the other day. I was blown away. But then number six totally ignored me.

"make that person’s day so much better"
This poignant article from the Westport, Connecticut Staples High School news site
reflects on a "good self esteem day completely ruined":
The Jeep Wave Uncovered
We know the feeling.

Found this in the Jeep Memes thread. I totally disagree especially with the year that it supposedly died.

Wave threads come up often. We try and keep them all in one place. You'll notice the post was merged in with the official wave thread. I left a 1 day redirect.

I think you're looking a little too much into it
But I would assume that at night, you're SOL on the wave. Don't flash people for no reason, even other Jeeps. I would include trailer'd Jeeps.
It should be all Wranglers IMO though you're going to get a lottttt of soccer moms and people who don't understand enough to do it, so don't be mad when they don't wave back. I used to ride sport bikes for a while, and would not wave every so often to other riders as you're supposed to out of courtesy but certain times you just can't do it or don't see it. Don't take it personal!

|MOPWR2U||The Jeep wave in the city is hit or miss, and typically well less than half of other Jeep owners wave. Off road is a different story, and the Jeep wave approaches 100 percent. Just today I did a 68 mile off road trip, over some rough and rocky two track roads. We met four other vehicles coming the other way, and three of them were Jeeps. All three Jeep owners waved, some initiated the wave, others returned our wave, but they all waved.|

I have had my Jeep for a year now and have run into a couple questions along the way. This thread is simply for my own interest to learn about how other Jeepers approach these encounters:
1. Driving in the dark (do you flash your high beams, off road lights, etc.)
2. Do you wave to somebody driving a truck, RV, etc. with a Wrangler being towed behind?
3. Are there specific Wranglers (year range, unlimited vs 2-door, modded), Jeeps (in general), or Built-Up (for offroading) cars that you'll wave to?
Thanks. Again, this thread is simply to understand how others do it.

This is totally me -
So yes, I wave at ALL Jeeps. At first it upset me a little when I didn't get the wave back -
But now I really could care less. 90% of the time I get a great wave from modified Jeeps. I'm probably around 60 to 70% on JK, JKU, and any stock Jeep. Oh well.

JK owners are not "kinda like Hummer owners" because we pay the JK price. Is it so horrible to have new people join the Jeep community? It is such an exclusive club only for pre-JK owners? There isn't a single person in my family or extended family that have ever owned a Jeep (CJ, TJ, etc.), so I was the first. I wasn't educated about the wave until joining this forum. I had no idea it was a tradition. I waved because I'm a friendly person and thought it was cool that Jeepers were waving at me.
On July 4, 2011, I leased a JK. *GASP* *OMG* leased! No! I wasn't sure I'd like driving a Jeep, so I leased one. I fell in love instantly. I turned in my JK 10/8 and was stuck driving my Camaro for two weeks before I ordered my new JK. Yes...ordered it...paid the "high" JK price. My Camaro was $40K so the price of the Rubicon wasn't some sort of sticker shock to me. I'm not a Hummer owner. I, like the majority of you in this forum, like to go off-road...get muddy...I believe that you don't wash your Jeep, you wheel it through a river!
There are only so many pre-JK models out there. Are we not supposed to grow the Jeep family? I guess the whole tradition of being a Jeep owner and a waver is supposed to die with the last TJ. Y'all are being snobby. To me, THAT's "kinda like a Hummer owner[s]".
It is up to us (ALL of us) to maintain the tradition. Wave at all Jeeps. Eventually they'll all learn to wave back.
