|Jeepchick9914||Thanks for the info guys...I really appreciate it. The installer said he would have to cut that metal bracket you were talking about out so that's why I was nervous to do it myself...I want it to look nice but if I can do it myself and save 140 bucks that would be nice too.. I just don't want it to look messy. Crutch field sent all the parts and install stuff I will need.|

Getting the new unit to fit is the biggest challenge. Mine is a 2008 and I am assuming yours has the same factory radio. If it does then it is a little smaller than the new unit. There is a bracket in the back the radio snugs up into that the new head unit will not. That bracket will have to come out. There are 4 screws holding it in but I found it had to be cut in half to remove it out of there. I think I read where someone actually did remove it in one piece.
Without getting too involved right now, not exactly knowing what you have I will try finding some of the info I found and post here for you to look at. That might make it easier for you to decide if you want to tackle this project or not. Gotta run now but I will come back later with what I find.

|I-Want-A-Jeep||$140 for a nav unit installation is pretty outrageous IMO... Crutchfield should be sending you a guide on how to install it yourself. Between that and youtube, you should be able to do it!|

|Jeepchick9914||Hey Yella- I ordered the harness kit and the steering wheel adapter from crutchfield (I love that place!!)I'm not too educated on speaker set up- so I have no idea- I replaced my sound bar speakers with the plug and play kicker speakers...which sound nice and crisp but I didn't know what to do after that. I was thinking of getting the system installed by someone- the guy said he would do it for 140 bucks...does that sound reasonable?|

Are you planning to install it? It requires "some modifications" but nothing a die grinder and a nice sharp scraper can't take care of.
Did you order a wire kit for it already? Back-up camera? Amp? Speaker wires? What's the final plan? I am still sort of working on mine so I might take an interest in your setup.
