I had to do it because I got buffing compound on it from buffing my window back to clear You could barely see through them when we got it.

I'll tell ya....it took about an hour and a half and a can and a half of KIWI black and NO SPIT, but it sure looks good now.

Dutch 95 Well.........I can't comment on the response you got from Scotchgard, but what I can do is tell ya what I did. I actually used Kiwi shoe (black) polish to get it back to black. Daddy Well sent Scotchgard a message with a question about how to remove the stuff from my top. THeir reply:

Thank you for contacting 3M, the innovation company.

We do not recommend using our Scotchgard products on convertable tops. You may try cleaning the top per the vehicle manufacturers recommended cleaning instructions.

We value your interest in 3M products.

Best regards,

Nicole

Needless to say, I thanked them dearly for the recommendation.

I have used Duplicolor on my top and it looks great. Hopefully it will last.

Daddy aalmutawakil, What do you suggest that I polish it with? I've scrubbed it with Tuff Stuff in an effort to remove all of the Scotchguard I can so that I can put something on it to bring it back to the black color. Right not it looks like it has been out in the weather for about 10 years. Thanks for any suggestions.

VeroJoe Call Scotchguard and they might give you an idea on what to use on their own product.

aalmutawakil I would say try to polish it again just in a small spot and see how that goes.

Faded Soft Top

I screwed up my soft top. I have the top off and had finished cleaning it throughly. It looked real good, so I had the bright idea to spray it with some Scotchguard to help repel water. Well it repels water but now it is gray instead of black!! It is a Bestop brand on a 1993 YJ. Anyone have any ideas on how to get the black back??
