While they may not be required, get some with the little convex mirrors you can stick onto the corners of the mirrors. Quadratech has some mirrors that bolt right into the door hinges, and while you may be able to find cheaper, the mirrors are pretty darned good.
Damned priuses are too quiet and sometimes you just don't see them. Florida is full of idiot drivers, and its nice to know whether or not you can swerve left/right at a moment's notice because some jackwagon ahead of you decided to drop their cigarette in their lap while doing their mascara and nails and talking on the phone...

This was a couple weeks ago, the first time in 4 years of patrol that I wrote an equipment violation cite:
Low and behold the driver was suspended. After that, he was adamant that he could drive w/o a door and mirror, "just like a Jeep".
I wrote him ARS 28-3473A - for being suspended.
I also wrote him ARS 28-921:
If he wants to push the issue in court, I'll show the piccy and read the statute to the judge.
One of the things to remember, is that most cops aren't just looking to write chickenpoo civil cites. The civil violation is reasonable suspicion to make a traffic stop, and often the true purpose of the stop is to find DUI, drugs, warrants, and suspended licenses.
I've gone several shifts, months even, without writing a civil cite.

Have lived in GA, CA, WA, and CO... all of which require 2 mirrors. Driverside and Rearveiw or Driverside and Passenger side. I live in CA now and have never got a ticket or met anyone that got one for not running mirrors.
The police must like JEEPS

I've gotten pulled over quite a few times here in Florida with both side mirrors but no rear view with the top and doors off. I just show the cop a copy of the statute (which I keep printed for such occasions) and they kindly bugger off.
That said, I recently put a rear view mirror on anyway. Easier to not get pulled over in the first place.

|HarryJeepGuy||May have changed by now, but in WV I've always been told that Drivers and Rear-view were always required, and have to have a passenger mirror also when towing. I've been pulled over before for not having a passenger mirror when towing (just a warning), and the wife's car failed an inspection for having a cracked (barely) passenger side mirror. I argued that I had cars in the past that were made without a passenger mirror, and they said that mirrors were like third brake lights - if they have them, they have to work properly. If I get a chance, I'll look it up. But mirrors that work are a good idea in my opinion. I know when I'm top off and doorless, I still use my drivers side mirror, and the passenger mirror is handy with a trailer.|

Texas only require one mirror.
As long as that mirror can see 200 feet behind you from the drivers side.
You could velcro a dollar store mirror to the windshield and be good to go.
§ 547.602. MIRRORS REQUIRED. A motor vehicle, including
a motor vehicle used to tow another vehicle, shall be equipped with
a mirror located to reflect to the operator a view of the highway
for a distance of at least 200 feet from the rear of the vehicle.

Not in AL, as long as you have one inside and can see 200ft behind you you're fine

I'm pretty sure if your vehicle came with it it is required on it.... Just saying, but I might not be that up on the vtl laws....and I don't think it really matters what state your in...
And yes, I know you doors are removable and it is leal to drive without them but they are not considered a safety feature like your mirrors are....

Even if technically legal, it doesn't stop some uninformed cop from citing something he believes to be illegal, and you from having to prove otherwise in court.
If you question it, a cop may question it.
Some officers are very careful about what they cite, others aren't. You can't pick which variety pulls you over. They all are armed with pens.
Odds of winning a roadside argument are minimal.
That is reality.
I'd advise adding a couple mirrors to remove all doubt of compliance and save some potential hassle.

MOTOR VEHICLES Chapter 316
STATE UNIFORM TRAFFIC CONTROL View Entire Chapter 316.294 Mirrors.—Every vehicle, operated singly or when towing any other vehicle, shall be equipped with a mirror so located as to reflect to the driver a view of the highway for a distance of at least 200 feet to the rear of the motor vehicle. A violation of this section is a noncriminal traffic infraction, punishable as a nonmoving violation as provided in chapter 318.

Looks like Florida only requires one mirror. Your rear view mirror should be adequate to satisfy the law. I'd still recommend using at least some sort of driver's side mirror on the street.

|vballspen||my neighbor, Seminole county sheriff says as long as you have one mirror you are fine. And I have seen posts about this and everyone seems to agree that it is legal. But on ebay you can get an old motorcycle mirror and mount it in the door hinge. I got mine for like 9 bucks shipped to my door.|

Legal or illegal?
I live in Florida and I was wondering if anybody knew if it was legal it illegal to have your doors off with no mirrors except the rear view mirror?
