|jeepwayoflife||I put a 6" ported sub in the back, not crazy loud but sounds fine in the little cabin of a jeep, then I put a speaker in the center console. This speaker does mids and bass, so it really rounds out the system nicely. Kenwood head unit, alpine front speakers, sony (ewww) speakers in Soundbar, 600watt amp, and the two subwoofers/mids|

Just curious, are you going to run the 6.5's as a midbass or something??

|I-Want-A-Jeep||^^ or bedline/resin the box then carpet over that. Marine carpet is nice with a very thin pile.|

|Nich||For your sub box stay away from carpet as it will get wet and eventually rot the wood. If you build your own use a tarp and cover it with that. I have had mine covered like that for over two years and no problems. Polk 5.25 in dash pyle 5.25 in sound bar. 2 12" poll marine subs in custom made box behind seat. 2 amps under rear seat.|

For the front I have some 5 1/4 Pioneers. In the sound bar I have 6 1/2 $25 cheapies from Wally World.
For the back I bought a cheap brand box at Wally World last year.
I have no amp just a 50 x 4 cd player but itall really sounds great
I then cut a thick piece of wood and bolted the box to it pointing downward
Facing downwards, the bass is nice.
I put some brackets on each side and used wing nuts to secure it. Then I rattlecan bedlined it all.

Amazon.com: Sound Storm Laboratories EV4.400 400-Watt 4-Channel Power Amplifier with High/Low Crossover: Car Electronics
and this one
Amazon.com: Pioneer GM-D7500M Class-D Mono Amplifier with 800 Watts Max. Power: Electronics
They are pretty small for what they push.
Not a fan of Sony. I bought a Sony stereo for my living room and it was in the shop twice in the first year. The last time they returned it all scratched up and wouldn't do any thing about it. A $400 stereo shouldn't be in the shop like that.
Also, we bought about 2 dozen Sony laptops at work and about 80% of them broke within the first 2 years. I haven't heard any thing bad about their car stuff but they have left a bad taste.

Also do you have the amps yet? If not I think you're going to be surprised at how big they are and you also have to account space for wires and being able to actually get a screwdriver somewhere to tighten terminals down. I have a Sony xm4s which is a very tiny amp, but there was no way it was fitting in the center console without pulling out the inside plastic.

What issues would I have if I were to put an amp inside the ammo center console and for it being a metal. Space-wise I think i'm golden but I wonder what issues I will have with the heat?

|Dragonii||I was thinking of putting the amps in the center console. Anyone know how wide the space in there is once you pull the factory sub out? I think I can fit both amps if it is at least 4" wide.|

|AirWick||i'm thinking of getting the Polk DB521 5.25" for the dash and DB6501 6.5 for my sound bar. Anything else I should keep in mind as far's parts that I would need? I know i'll need a hard plate and baffles for the dash. I'm buying mine from Amazon so i'm not sure if it'll come with all the wires for install? Thanks!|

|superdavis78||Memphis PR 4" in the dash with adapters, and Memphis SR 6 1/2" in the bar. Sounds pretty good. I'm kicking a 10 year old Pioneer DEH model CD player...really need to upgrade the head unit.|

All I had to do was drill a 2" hole for the tweeters. The crossovers are stuck inside the pod with that gray double stick tape. There's a square of Dynamat in the pods above the speaker and some poly-fill around them.
At the moment they are plugged to the factory radio but they still sound pretty good. They should sound great once I get the amp in.
The front ones haven't been put in the Jeep yet. They are mounted and ready to be put in, but they are still in my living room at the moment.

|HebrewHammer||how did u get those Orions to fit in the pods it dosent look like u did any trimming?|
|02-27-2012 12:54 PM|
So this is what I settled on...
the Orion separates in the pods
Orion 2 way in the dash
I plan to build the box into the back seat and use a 10", 2ohm, Pioneer flat sub
Amps are these.
Soundstorm 400wattx4 for the Orions
Pioneer 800 watt mono for the sub
and this head unit
Everything has been ordered and everything has arrived but the head unit. They say it will ship Wednesday.
