TnDz TJ I happened to be near Sacramento, CA yesterday and stopped into 4Wheelparts. Nice store and good guys in there...

I looked at Smittybilt 20,000lb straps they had on an end-cap display for $19.99 each.. FYI

DuruConsigliere I used one of those Walmart Tow Straps for about two years. Pulling cars back on the road during winter. I finally had to retire it just about a month ago because it was getting pretty fraid up. Last thing I towed was my wifes Jeep Liberty about 40 miles with it. Biggest pull was a F-250 with a 8in lift on 36's. But that was basicly just getting him free from a mudhole and he was helping too. Anyway, I've had decent luck with mine. Was planning on getting another one. I think it's all in how you use it that matters. Jerking around will obviously shorten any tow straps life.

denisbaldwin I have one of the cheapie (under $20) ones from Harbor Freight and it's awesome. I've used it now 3 times for recovery purposes and it's never let me down. I think it's rated at 20k pounds, which I've never pulled that much.. but still good for what it is.

s3nt3nc3d Keep in mind there is a HUGE difference between tow straps and snatch straps...you don't wanna jerk with a tow strap or you risk breaking stuff.

Personally... I'd buy a good strap online. You can get em on Amazon for pretty cheap. If you're looking for a snatch strap (made for jerking), you'll want to make sure you buy one with loops on the ends, NOT hooks.

Garlandxj Yes, I bought one once. You probably need to take one zero off that number. Mine broke pulling an 87 honda accord hatch back on level pavement.
