Resist My new Jeep 730n Application is 2.6, Gracenotes is 4118. I see others have a later Gracenotes.

Same as previously mentioned I almost always use the steering wheel controls, but I have never seen a problem with the HU controls. The wife is usually turning down the music via the HU as I am turning it up by the steering wheel. ;-)

I wish I could disable the HU controls....

There was a 2.4, but for the RER not our RHR radio.

I always use the steering wheel controls (use to such for years on my other vehicle). I will have to check the knob on the radio the first chance I get.

From my recollection, or at least what I upgraded to/from, the recent revisions went like this:

2.136 -> 2.184 ->2.6

Now I did see a 2.140 that oddly was between the 2.184 and 2.6, not what you would expect. I never installed this version as it was not clear it was for our RHR radios.

EDIT:

I found a list of all of the versions of software up to 2.126, talk about screwed up ordering...

1.908 -> 2.110 -> 2.116 -> 2.120 -> 2.169 ->2.126

I am not sure if there was anything between 2.126 and 2.136. I have been happy with 2.6 so far.

Was there a 2.4 for our 730N 'RHR' radios?

Jetjocchris I have the 730 N and I have the trip log turned on so it shows my route history in "blue". Is there a way to clear the route history...?? It seems like I can only turn it on and off and when I turn it on it always shows the old routes...

Thanks

My 730N does not show track lists, capitalizes all the tracks at times, will not connect to my phone, no artwork and some other issues since I updated. They are intermittent so I would believe it is software related.
I really don't use my Rubi X as an iPod on wheels, so I can only talk about my phone, and it connects reliably. I haven't had a single failure-to-connect since upgrading to 2.6. Though, previously, I think it only ever failed to connect twice, and I had to manually-by-voice-command connect.

Is there a way to change the colors? I would prefer blacks/greys over the terrible blue and light blue colors. My wife's 430 just looks better IMO.

I was only in the Jeep for about 20 minutes this morning and I was listening to the radio. I'll have to listen to the iPhone on the way home and see what comes up. Funnily enough, I still haven't loaded any songs on to my hard drive. Perhaps I'll do that tonight.

Boothill YOUTUBE has been my bestest friend for learning how to use my 730N.

Scale, I belive the circumference of the little blue circle (or is it yellow?) with the arrow in the middle determines scale....I think.

None that I have found. Possibly the firmware is just bug fixes, and we'll not have to worry anymore about tripping over one.

I have a LG drive and with that, LG's ISO image burning software. I can simply double click on the ISO file name, and the correct image burning program starts up. That's probably true (simply double clicking on the file name) for most image burning programs.

You will see the Application version and Gracenotes version.

The Application SW is basically the operating system where the Gracenotes is simply the database of album art/information.

To update you need to find the appropriate files. As others have mentioned there is a member on a different forum who makes all of the files available for download. Search for "sox rhr update", the first search result will take you to a different forum where you can find the link.

Be sure to only use files for RHR. You will have to download both the application and gracenotes ISO images and burn to a DVD. Each one will need its own DVD. The files are very big so be sure to check the properties on both the server and your file to make sure they are EXACTLY the same size. It typically takes me a few attempts at downloading. Then use your favorite image burning software to burn the disk. I just use the built-in burner on Win7 but others have had issues. Just be sure to do the verify after burn to make sure it was 100% successful.

There are some people who have been able to use USB drives, but from what I have read it is not as reliable and I like to keep the DVDs around just in case.

Once you have the disks, turn on the Jeep and pop the disk in. After a little while the stereo will read the disk and ask if you want to update. Follow the prompts and then be prepared to wait 20-30 minutes per update.

NOTE: This is what I have done and it works for me. I take no responsibility in your actions/results. If you are worried take it to your dealer and complain about some feature/bug/issue you have and they can update it as well. My experience is that they are typically 1-2 versions behind.

Also, neither of these updates will update your navigation maps, POI's, etc. That is a separate update that is tied to your VIN so must be purchased for ~$150 from Navtech.
Thank you both very much for the awesome info!

Great appreciated!

JeepFan95 I'm new to all this updating. How does one find out what version they are on and how do you go about updating to the current version? Is there a tutorial, video, or guide?

Yes it is a separate download,DVD to burn and install. Just be sure to get the RHR Gracenotes update. This was a pretty big update for me, much more album are showed up and the generic genre art was updated as well.

schirmyver Just updated to 2.600 from Sox's website - I'll update with any improvements I find. The update completed without any issues.

There is also a Gracenotes update from my last update 5411 -> 5414 that I am currently downloading.
