stans1stjeep OK I'm not technically "in love" with my Sahara, but I do love it. That's what happens when you don't re-read a sentence fully after you edit it.

stans1stjeep I bought my Sahara because the package had the combination of options I wanted, for the price I wanted to pay. I like the wheels and tires and will just replace the tires in 5 or 6 years when they wear out. I only drive about 5k per year and most of that is on paved Michigan roads. The Bridgestone tires got good winter ratings and good road ratings on My limited experience in this mild winter seems to be verifying their ratings. I love with my Sahara and recommend that you get the Wrangler that best suits your expected usage.

Alexia The Sahara rims and tired are weird. I plan to drive on them until they wear out then find a complete replacement set.

mjf232 I have the Sahara and the tires really didnt factor into the decision because I plan on changing them out eventually. What swayed my buying decision was the options the Sahara comes with over Sport. Now grant it u are paying more for the Sahara but when I spec'd it out for what I wanted, it was best to go with the Sahara. So u need to ask urself, what r u looking for in the Jeep, as far as options. Then price it out doing the options after vs from the factory. Hope this helps and good luck.

jkjeeper06 Another benefit to smaller rims is that you have more tire so they can be aired down more for more contact patch wheeling, and since there is more tire, it's harder to get rock/curb rash

daggo66 Can't really say how much more because it varies depending on the size, tread, and manufacturer. In most cases a complete set of larger tires, including new 16" wheels with the proper backspacing, will cost less or about the same as a set of tires alone for 18" wheels.

Ahh! (Pardon me while I wipe the egg off my face). So, the tires are the same size, but tires for 18" wheels are more expensive? How much more, and is it a big enough difference to worry about it when buying a car? Thanks much.

Sport S Tires v. Sahara Tires

17" v. 18". I hear that 17" tires are more fuel efficient and cost less to replace. Did this issue factor into your purchasing decision at all? How big a deal is this? Should I be swayed away from the Sahara because of it? (I'm a bit on the fence right now about which version to get). As I continue to obsess over my upcoming purchase, I appreciate any help you can give me.
