bofa Well, I couldn't find the video or the good scenery pics. All I saw was where I stopped off to get gas.

Hah, well at least I did get the 4WD but man that thing was awful to drive.

I will say though that on unplowed, iced over highways and back roads, that little guy kept up. At one point the only people still on the road, not pulled over or in a ditch was me and this other guy in a 4WD Xterra. It was some of the nicest scenery. I think I still have some video somewhere.. maybe I can find it and post. I was surprised I was still hanging but it was too cold to even consider stopping.

Plan to order this Summer

Hi all - I figured I'd introduce myself. I'm typically a car guy (just sold my 08 350Z) but my wife loves her SUVs. So this year we are trying out the 1 car family thing, thus selling my Z, and now compromising on a SUV. I think I've almost convinced my better half to trade in the Xterra for a Jeep.

I made the mistake - huge mistake - of buying a Patriot a few years back. While it did safely get me from Denver to Birmingham in the middle of the biggest ice/snow storm of the year, it was small, gutless, and a little too cute for my taste. Plus the heater went out about 100 miles into that trip and I froze my arse off. I had it for only 8 months and took a 8k hit on it just to get out of it. Been paying for that mistake since I bought the 08 Z in fact. But, moving on...

I've long been a Wrangler fan but never found them practical for my uses. When they came out with the Unlimited, I was impressed but not a fan for the small power plant. Now that the thing has some umph, I can't wait to dig in.

I have a good idea of what I plan to order, since no one seems to have this config in stock, and hope to place the order at the end of April or beginning of May, with hopes of a June delivery.

I already have a list of about $1500 in mods I'm planning and that doesn't really even tackle the big stuff - suspension, tires, etc. That will all have to wait. I'm very into doing my own mods and have gotten the mod bug plenty of times on past cars and motorcycles. I just hope I can contain the beast this time. See you all around.
