|XJ Knight||I would still go down.. To the 35x12.5's.. But cause he did upgrade the shafts going up wouldn't be a problem either.. I'd say if your gonna go hard on the Jeep best to go down, but if your just crusing some wooded trails and mud holes 37's won't be of problem..|

I live in the eastern panhandle of wv...I forgot to mention that I have the auto trans. (if that makes a difference, I think Im right that it does) I also talked with the previous owner yesterday and he mentioned alloy USA axles not stock
I thought about buying/borrowing something to pass inspection, but to be honest the tires are pretty chewed and would need to be replaced soon anyways.
Thanks for the feedback and keep it coming please

|jeep-dj||You could always buy cheap set of used tires to pass inspection and then put the 36's back on.|

|lovethetrails5||im pretty sure 5.13 gears is not very good for 35s why do you want to change anyways? as for tires i like the km2|

Tire/Wheel + gearing question
I just picked up an 06 rubi LJ with 36 13.50 15's and 5.13 gears. Jeep has a 6 " long arm full traction tri link on it and all the other goodies you could imagine.
Due to the fact I bought it in VA and live in WV i need to reduce wheel/tire width to pass inspection (stupid WV says that you can't have any tire uncovered by the fender flares). It does have the 6" bushwhackers on it now.
My question is would you go down to a 35 12.50 or would you go up to a 37 12.50? This is the first time I've had a jeep that has been regeared so I am not sure on how the size difference between the 35 and 37 would affect anything.
I am also on the fence on what rubber to go with, but am favoring the MTR's with kevlar.
ps its great to be back in a jeep finally
