Just scrolled through this thread. It's LONG, but has a lot of good info in it! Nice work PieFace! I thought I would shoot a couple questions and see if any of you old posters hit.
Just this last weekend I installed the Stage 2 Intake with Pro Dry filter and the Y-pipe and 2.5" Cat Back Hi Tuck with muffler in rear (49-46212). I was told by AFE this had the larger 22"muffler they now offer on the Hi-tuck relocation RB kits. He was wrong, it's 14". So I may exchange for the relo kit with a 22" (49-46232). I'm still trying to decide and need help! It sounds pretty good, but I would like it to be a bit lower/deeper which I think the 22" will do. I'm wondering if anyone (PieFace) noticed a difference in sound just due to location of the muffler?? I'm worried the muffler forward will be much louder just due to location.
Also, I installed the intake alone first and I agree with these posts. It sounded awesome alone and definitely improved throttle response and acceleration in the top RPM range! Adding the exhaust kind of masked the sound a little and I'm only noticing a little extra power on initial throttle press and up around 4-5k RPM when you are at hard acceleration. If you wanted performance only, go with intake. If you want high clearance and cool sound, go with exhaust.

aFe Power Mach Force XP Hi-Tuck 2.5" Cat-Back Exhaust
It's a Vibrant ultra quiet resonator. All 2.5 inch. No pics but there are some on the forum. It fits fine. Can't believe the guys at Muffler Man installed the resonator in less than 15 minutes and charged me $15 plus tax to do it. I felt a little guilty. Welds were excellent. t's good to live in the small towns of central florida....

Which AFE kit are you running? I'm assuming you used an Ultra 1141 2.5" Ultra Quiet resonator to go with a 2.5" kit. Do you have any pix of the finished install? Would love to see how well the resonator fits under there.

Just purchased a used new to me 2012 Arctic. Had the AFE and it drove my wife nuts. Added a Vibrant ultra quiet resonator. db readings below. It made more of a difference than the measurements show. Now I hear tire noise from the mud terrains. I have a Ram van with the same motor so I put it in for comparison. The irritating noise is gone at highway speeds........

Just seen this. Yes, all details in the pick above. Had to cut it and the diamensions are in the picture. On the two door there is really no other room as that bend is immediate on both sides, so you can't go wrong where to measure and cut as its just about the only straight piece of pipe left to work with.

Loved it. Smooths out the throttle response throughout the rpm ranges, totally kicks in at high rpms, for highway driving. Quiet on idle and off throttle for regular drivng, slight touch to the gas and it wakes up super loud. Just based off PieFace's dyno, I would say that's a minimum and thats on his vehicle. Fairly confident there is more on mine and/or others. I don't monitor fuel usage as I don't drive enough to be concerned (4500 miles in 12 months). This combo cai/exhaust plus the high octane tuner - unbeatable combonation. Don't have the energy right now after uninstalling it hauling it around, trading in the '12, hauling back etc. to reinstall it on the '13. I'll wait for the '13 tunes to come out and re-do it all once again.
I should add as detailed on the previous page this after installing the performance resonator. Without it it was too loud for my applications.

I took mine off, pro guard 7 when we installed the supercharger, and I was shocked at how clean it was inside too. nothing but shiny black plastic.
I have their cleaning kit and will be working on the filter in the coming days.

|positrak||Removed my intake the other day and took a closer look at it this morning, its the high CFM oiled Pro 5R filter. Somewhat surprised on closer inspection, absolutely nothing in it. Not a spec of dust or contaminant anywhere. Half expecting oil build up and some sort of baked sludge build up. Nothing clean as whistle, you could eat off it. this after exactly one year hard usage. Filter itself has changed from blue to dirty beige though. But not a spec of anything inside.|

|JerryJeepster||I was wanting the AFE but it looks like they only have the cat back under drivers seat muffler for the 4 door. I guess I will call them to see if they have suggestions for the 2 door. I really like the idea of the muffler under the drivers seat with the exhaust out the back on the driver side.|

Does anyone have any tips on installing the afe 3" exhaust with the relocated muffler on a JKU?
A month ago I tried to tackle the job and failed. I took the old exhaust off but I couldn't get the new muffler on to the old pipe. I think it's the angle I'm coming from. The new muffler can't fit between the frame until it's mated with the old pipe, and it won't mate with the pipe since it's not parallel with it. I don't know if anyone knows what I mean.
I thought if I loosened the y pipe bolts it would tip the end of that pipe downwards and I could slip the new pipe on. Any other suggestions?

The intake and exhaust is not going to turn your jeep into a rocket. You will feel a little boost, but also they will "lighten" your gas pedal. Your truck will be more responsive and "crisper" with the AFE parts.
Also the Intake will make the Pentastar SING. It sounds like a completely different engine once you get that plastic over off its mouth.
The exhaust does the same thing. Just give it a little swagger that will help you stand out.
AFE's steel is of much higher quality than the stock steel also. My resonator tube is 1 year old and it looks like its 10 years old. Rusted and awful. They AFE parts under my truck still look new.

I've always thought about getting an exhaust & CAI, but I still cannot see the value to these. I have a Diablosport Tuner & K&N filter and the tuner alone has helped overall drivability. With the 93 tune I believe it adds around 15 HP + 15 TQ.
There's a huge market for something that's priced between the price of an exhaust/CAI & a supercharger. The supercharger is too great of a jump in price. We're talking from $700-1k to $6k for a supercharger (supercharger yielding around an 85 extra HP?).

Fantastic thread! I had to wipe the drool off my chin after listening to the 49-46222 3" high tuck and am eyeballing that for my '13 JKUR! I am a little concerned that I'm going to have to get a resonator welded in at some point based on the discussion since this is a DD and goes on road trips.
I like the sound and power gains of AFE's CAI, but but I'd like to keep the actual air inlet as high as possible for deeper water crossings vs. having an exposed air filter. Afe doesn't seem to make their Stage 2 SI CAI (54-81252) for the 2012-2013's it appears, but also, the air inlet is at the lowest part of the intake. Check out the inlets of the Corsa or Volant CAIs for comparison.
