RR HID Lights on XHD Bumper Hoop

I bought a pair of 5" HID lights from RR. They will mount on the hoop on the XHD bumper with their clamps. I don't like the idea of running the wiring externally using tie wraps around the hoop. I would like to drill holes in the back of the hoop next to the clamps and in the bottom mounting flange and the bumper to run the wires inside the hoop. I would then use grommets and silicone sealer to protect the wires and keep water out of the tube. It looks like I would have to cut the ground wires on the lights and splice a longer wire to ground out under the bumper. I'd like to keep the holes as small as possible, but large enough to easily fish wires through. Has anyone here done this? Any problems or recommendations?

Thanks
