Hi everyone, thanks for all the advice. I brought home my brand new wrangler unlimited rubicon in bright dozer color yesterday. It was unusually warm here in Indianapolis and we took off the freedom tops. My kids and I had a blast. Honestly this is the first vehicle I've ever had that is actually fun to drive. I only wish I would have started buying wranglers years ago!

Kinda why I don't have a winch either. I go "off road" with other Jeepers 3 maybe 5 times a year where there is truly a chance I will get stuck.
I do use it to "get to the fishing holes" but, could probably make most of that in 2wd. I do like it in the winter-- when we have snow--but it is not really needed.
I do like going topless in the warmer weather.....I feel like I am on a bike again , but don't worry about getting hit again.
It really depends on how you will use it. So it is an opinion question.
BTW just purchased my 2nd "Sport" 2012. First is a 2004 with over 150K and still running good and not going anywhere. A jeep is like that to me it has a "forever home".

|jmaler||Seriously looking at the rubicon. But it's an $8,000 difference or from the sport. I plan to drive it ten years at least. Does everyone think the advanced suspension and drivetrain and other options are worth that $8 grand?|

Welcome to the forum.
I'm thinkin that Jeep is the most accessorized vehicle on the planet.. so it really doesn't matter which you buy.. you'll be turning wrench soon. So the real question is which one do you like? they don't call it sport for marketing, Rubicon is probably the world's best known tough (rated a 10) trail, and they are all Jeeps. (trail rated.. I hate that slogan) so let Adventure Begin.
here's a nice little link and you can see videos and see what i'm talking about http://jeepjamboreeusa.com/ click on photos or trips.

If your offroading isnt hardcore the Sport or Sahara will be fine. If you want the factory extras get the Sahara. If you dont, get the Sport.

Buying advice: 2012 sport/sahara/rubicon?
Hi everyone! I'm about to Finally buy my first wrangler.. Only been wanting one for 30 years or so.... Anyway, I could use some advice. Looking at the models and wondering what you experts recommend. I plan to use the jeep for general driving and occasional off roading. I see lots of places to buy all sorts of accessories. Is it worth the extra money to go all out and buy the 2012 rubicon? Or go sport or sahara and add on extras? Any advice welcomed.... Can't wait!
