rebelBullDawg325 glad you got it fixed. it was a PITA when i had this same problem.
02-25-2012 08:36 PM
mikeaju awesome man thanks alot so did you have to take the dist right out then to change the cam sensor. ive taken one dist out before and ya its not a fun job glad she got running for you that great. I ordered my cam sensor today im gettin it tomoro and well see ill keep you informed again thanks alot.
02-25-2012 03:22 PM
Rick1805 Ok IT'S RUNNING.

The timing was off. The cam sensor was bad had to pull the distributor out to replace it and when I put it back in must of been off a tooth or more that started in the pull it out damn I'm 180 off and try again well I was only really 90 off so once I got everything reset top dead #1 both valves closed timing mark correct and she fired....

My advice take a lot of photos so you can be sure where everything was and how it sat
02-24-2012 09:43 PM
mikeaju Let me know how it goes I kno u can get computers from junk yards or ebay for not too bad a price. And why do you have to set timing did it really jump off time you think.
02-24-2012 08:18 PM
Rick1805 Yes it's a pain Need to set the timing on mine and hopefully it will start
Yours might be the same problem as mine after replacing the cam sensor it seemed to want to start but is off time
Going to try again tomorrow

Crank sensor for me did nothing try cam sensor first pain in the butt to replace as you have to take the distributor apart
Hopefully tomorrow will have better news because my next throw money at it is replace the computer or better yet scrap it and put new motor in it
02-24-2012 07:03 PM
mikeaju I have this same problem right now spark and fuel but no start its annoying as hell, what do i do. I was thinkin crank senser mine is a 92 does mine have a cam senser too. 4.0 ltr
02-22-2012 04:18 PM
rebelBullDawg325 thats why i replaced the whole distributor. no one had the sensor in stock, but advance did have a distributor with the sensor installed in stock, i needed it asap, could not wait so had to pay extra, but o-well

Rick1805 ok update....

replaced crank sensor no help still no start....
I have spark and fuel at the plugs my next thow money at it thing is replace the
cam sensor its on order I tried to ohm it and got nothing out of it but as the dodge place and the other parts places if i have spark then that should be working

So I am at a loss if anyone has any ideas please put them forward my next item is the computer ..............
02-21-2012 08:39 PM
1fast lorinser If it was a fuel problem you can just spray some starting fluid down the throttle body and it should run for a few seconds or so just to make sure its not a fuel issue.
02-21-2012 04:29 PM
VeroJoe Where is this sensor on a 92 - 4 banger???

Just because you have fuel at the rail doesnt mean your injectors are getting a signal.

Got a noid light? check it.

Cam sensor if no signal.
02-21-2012 03:47 PM
Garyk The crank position sensor is a good bet. If its defective the timing will be way off...
02-21-2012 01:53 PM
Rick1805 The problem started Monday morning drove around all weekend no problems (normal driving ). There seems to be good pressure on the rail but don't have a gauge going to try the sensor and see what happens . She does sound like she wants to start sounds like it really needs. A tune up but did that new cap rotor wires plugs

Did swap the relays around last night
02-21-2012 01:16 PM
rebelBullDawg325 have you checked actual fuel pressure? or just that there is fuel in the rail? could have low pressure, or could be clogged injectors?

but i had almost the same problem. i replaced the distributor and the cam sensor inside it ( you can replace separate as well) and mine fired right up. BUT i only had intermittent spark.

when did this problem start?

also, open the fuse box and swap the ASO, fuel pump, and starter relays around and see if anything changes
02-21-2012 08:59 AM
Rick1805 It turns over just fine but will not run........ If you crank it for a min or so you get that feeling that it wants to run but nothing we have all heard that sound just that little more and she go but nothing

The thing I'm stuck on is that old thing you have fuel YES you have spark YES then should run

I ordered the crank sensor it has 150,000 miles on the motor the cam sensor looks ok but never know
02-21-2012 08:18 AM
rebelBullDawg325 Does it turn over just won't fire and run or does it not even turn over
02-21-2012 07:14 AM
Rick1805 Yes constant spark and fuel. But no run. The other strange thing that happened about a week before the shift light that nev worked started to work for about a half a day and stopped working again ... Guessing that the injectors are not firing but I would think I would get something from the starting fluid
02-20-2012 09:59 PM
rebelBullDawg325 you getting constant spark on all plugs? i had a similar system but would only get random sparking. ended up cam position sensor, inside distributor
02-20-2012 08:36 PM
jfbilbro ok...it's mounted on the bell housing on the drivers side toward the front....there's a way to test it before replacing if you are familiar with an ohm meter and have one at your disposal.....let me know, and i'll give you the step by step test procedure...
02-20-2012 08:31 PM
Rick1805 4.0
02-20-2012 08:31 PM
jfbilbro which motor you got?....2.5 or 4.0?....makes a difference in location
02-20-2012 07:52 PM
Rick1805 Ok so that would stop from starting even with starting fluid ?
Of course it would have to be a special order part.
Also if I may ask. Where is the part located? Driver side? Pass side? Of the flywheel
02-20-2012 07:38 PM
jfbilbro x2 on the crank sensor...
02-20-2012 07:24 PM
1fast lorinser check your cam position sensor or crank position sensor. sensors like these on wranglers tend to always fail.
