Just to fill in some additional info...
The dealership that I first approached had no 2012 Rubicons for me to look at, so I went to Dealership #2, who got the sale.
Dealership #1's service dept. is highly rated by a local Jeep club, so I still go there for service.

|JKatfish||I dont think Service cares where you bought it either. They still get paid by Chrysler for any warranty work they do or dont do, and its usually just a bunch of extra hours they can bill. As long as they do a good job on your vehicle, are courteous and fair pricing. Most of the newer uograded showrooms with lounges seem to be more customer orientated. But yeah, Going for service is like going to the dentist!|

|starcreek||I think it completely depends on the dealer. I take my Acura to a dealer I did not buy it from for service, and they are great. They are making money, so don't know why they wouldn't be happy.|

|bflank||If the local dealer appears to be a good operation that you want to do business with, then I'd recommend that you talk to the sales manager and explain the offer you have from the other dealership. Tell him that you would rather buy from him but $1600 is pretty compelling. If he is not at all interested you will have learned a lot about the mentality of the dealership and what kind of service you can expect.|

Bought my Jeep out of state. Went to schedule an oil change at my local dealer and they were complete d-bags to me. But another dealer about 30 minutes away was very nice. In and out in 20 minutes, free wash.
Shop around for your service the same you do for your vehicle.

|Chewtoy||I use the local dealer for factory warranty work, or maybe installing a "Jeep" option. Otherwise, I use a local garage for service. You are not required to use the dealer to maintain the warranty. You can get your LOF at any garage, and keep the receipt to document you are having required service completed.|

|PA ARCTIC||50/50 shot. your local dealer must honor the factory warranty. but most likley will give you the cold shoulder because you did not buy local. something to be said for trying to keep your business local. my dealer is 10 min. away. and so far as been great.|

In my experience the Service department is very different from the Sales department and almost bears being looked into as a completely separate thing.
You can have great sales people and crummy service people and vice versa.

expect good service?
I am thinking of buying a 2012 sport from a dealer that's about 4 hours from home. I have a local dealer but the price is $1600 lower at the dealer 4 hours away. Should I expect good service at my local dealer even though i bought from another? Thanks, Tom
