citified Any vehicle without rack and pinion steering will at some point get the DWs (without proper maintenance). Happens in old cars and trucks alike. To eliminate it would require IFS and a rack, to things very detrimental to what a wrangler is.

Another Guy In A Jeep ^ or just buy it and fix it urself by having stronger stuff put into it. Stock will only take you so far.

DougTimme I am really surprised at some of the comments in the two threads regarding this report. No one should accept, or expect their vehicle to have issues like this. Lack of maintenance is one thing, but on a vehicle with 15,000 miles...No way should this be considered normal. I have loved Jeeps for a long time, and my LJ had DW issues at a stock, well maintained 15,000 miles much the same as the "soccer mom" I can forgive my 48 willys or an occasional bout with the DW, but not a relatively new Jeep like the ones in the report. DW does not make a Jeep endearing, and it could be solved without sacrificing what a Jeep is. It could be resolved by making a Jeep MORE of what it is supposed to be by building them with bulletproof steering and suspension components. How many DW threads and posts are there on this forum alone? No problem?

Doug

BeaverJeeper i think that video is dumb. they act like jeeps are the only ones that get DW. and that chick that said she wouldn't have bought it if she had known about DW.... her own damn fault for not researching before she bought.

she probably doesn't wave either..... stupid soccer mom JK drivers....

they didn't receive enough complains from customer reporting this issue..?? let's do it..!!!

shut..!!! this pissed me off...!!!
Didn't fix the 05/06 TJ/LJ gas issue
Didn't fix the 00/01/Possibly 02's cylinder head issue
Anything else Im missing that they haven't fixed yet that would be considered a major problem through the years in any of the jeep models?

As you can see they never did anything about those problems so there not gonna do anything about this if it believed by anyone to be a problem.. SFA means chance of Death Wobble.. Just the way it is. This is far far far from anything new

any vehicle that has solid axles can develope DW. however it is less likey to happen to something with leaf springs compared to something with coils.
02-23-2012 02:15 PM
guncrazy72 Its possible to happen in any vehicle with wore steering components.

crafty Only time it's ever happened on my YJ was when my rims were filled with mud

crafty Yep, seen it happen on a fullsize Ford truck after he crossed railroad tracks. I was glad I had a median strip between us. Severe death wobble!

TJDave That news article has been floating around all over.

It's nice how ABC news singles out Jeep for this problem. It happens to a lot of other makes also.
