banks316 Cant go 4.10 on stock 3.07 carriers only up to 3.73. Best option on a budge is find a set of end from a 2.5L wrangler. As for doing gears your self its not easy. I do my own gear work and if you use a 3 jaw puller for removing bearings your going to waste money for extra bearings. I use a clam shell puller from Yukon Gear saves money on bearings. New carriers 3.73 up are $90 each

gears under the shade tree

so here i am, a new jeep guy. my yj is sitting on 33's, 6 inches of lift, and the stock 3.07 gears.
ive been trolling around this site looking for info about gears and axles. from what ive read so far, i can go all the way up to 4.10 gears with the stock carriers. this jeep is my toy and i have a budget that is quickly drying up.
i have a nice assortment of tools, and a covered place to work on my jeep. how difficult is a gear swap? i want to do the work myself, but dont want to get in over my head. ive researched the swap on u tube. and well i think i can.
any advice?
