Same here!!

I don't get underneath it but if we're going to have a stretch of nice weather I'll go ahead and wash and polish it up.

Gate53 If we get a little rain I call it good. If not I might hit a few potholes to knock off some of the chunks.

New2012JEEP I have a firemans nozzle hose, that's about it. I did buy a wet/dry vac though, that was my main concern, having the interior clean.

I am considering buying a small pressure washer for the underside, and we have a lot of concrete around our house. Sidewalk looks terrible right now from leaves that sat

Disraeli I haven't washed my Jeep since 2006.

jp2611 I clean both Jeeps the same as I have every motorcycle, car, or truck I have ever had.

To me they are all an investment and I want to protect that investment as much as possible. Also makes it easier to see rust or leaks sooner.

But I do take the '04 TJ off road, but didn't when I first got it. (8 years ago)

My reasons for a Jeep:

1.) Smile factor...I can't drive it for long with out being happy/ relaxed.
2.) Convertible...ok not really but topless in the summer with fresh air and sunshine, tunes rollin, or a late night cruise back from the lake after a day of sun and or fishing top down summer time....can't be beat!! Or taking the long way home from work just for "JEEP TIME" is how it is.
3.) 4wd...it is the only vehicle I have ever had that I KNEW the snow in INDIANA wasn't gonna stop me.

Of course I want it clean..... who wants to ride around with crud falling off/ dust in the face scratched up paint, falling apart rig? Get it dirty but clean it up/ know it is safe and ready for the next time.

end rant/ opinion.

sunnykk We own a Bimmer and a Grand Cherokee in addition to the wrangler. I am pretty anal about cleaning both of them but the wrangler - not so much. IMO, the wrangler is meant to get dirty so I will clean it once a month or so but that's about the extend of it. I won't try and do any minor cleaning every other weekend like I do with the other two vehicles.

I have also found it very necessary to alert whatever female is with me whether it's my girlfriend or i'm taking my mom to dinner, that I'll drop them at the door if they didn't wear their hiking boots

as to the washing part, HELL YEAH! I like my cars spotless top to bottom unless i'm heading to the trails

I use the 303 on the entire interior, my Bushwackers, the canvas on my soft top (with a soft bristle brush), door handles, side mirror bodies. It'll clean as well as it protects. I've used it on my Jeep and motorcycle instead of waxing, as well.

It'll keep the plastics from fading and cracking, and doesn't leave a filmy residue. You can get it at some True Value hardware stores, and sometimes at marinas. Or from Amazon...

xxss I used to have a CAR, and yes I kept it clean. Now I have a JEEP, it gets wet when it rains...and I powerwash the mud off it after playing on the trails.

snowtime I am crazy with cleaning my cars but not over the top with the Jeep since I go off road with it I figure it's gonna get some scratches and nicks anyway. My other cars I only wash myself, I have had detail work done on them from a professional before it takes 2 days and cost around $1,000 I do this 2 times a year for 2 of my cars.
02-26-2012 12:28 PM
themoneypit I clean it every week or two in the summer, maybe a little more often in winter depending on the amount of snow and the related mag chloride ice melt.

lovecheese I did the same with all my other vehicles. I typically keep them spotless. Never knew when you're going to be upside down, exposing your... underside.

JandS It is a car, not a coffee table.

With that said, it is YOUR car, so you treat it how you feel is best!

anyone else anal about washing the car?

Before washing the car ive generally spend a hour or 2 underneath it, cleaning all the underside bits and pieces like shocks, steering rack and members...

anyone else doing this or am i just crazy? (first new car ive ever owned i figure its easier to spot a problem if the underside is also spotless....
