Sparkplugg Hmmm... I wouldn't see that a plate would give you more stability than big washers as the weakest link is stated above. If the plate somehow managed to attach to the seat frame, that would be great.

Sueby Thank you sparkplugg! Good to know about removing the plastic. I was thinking a couple big washers would be the way to go. I read somewhere that someone made a mounting plate, I didn't exactly get what they were saying but now I wonder if they did it on the back side, instead of washers.

I used the same mounts as are in the popular write-up. You can find those locally at ACE Hardware or order from Amazon. They are pretty cheap.

I marked my mounting location on the plastic trim with the seat slid all the way back. That keeps the flashlight from being mounted to far back and hitting the B post. The plastic trim can be removed with a Torx bit, pretty self explanatory when you look at it. Then, I drilled at my already marked spots and added hardware I had picked up at Lowe's. Just whatever nuts and bolts you decide will fit best. The most important thing is to use the biggest washers that will fit so you don't rip through the plastic when removing the flashlight.

It worked well. The mounts feel pretty solid. I am careful when removing the light, though, being sure not to just rip it off the mounts like I would if they were attached to a metal rail. The weakest link seems to be the trim mount to the seat frame, not the flashlight mount to the trim. It could be a possible problem over time. Go ahead and install it. You will be satisfied.

Your welcome.
At those prices, they better dim out the sun!!

I've been thinking about going with one of the Redline lights that JeepSwag.com offers.

You get outta your Jeep with a two foot, four pound flashlight and you can use it to see which way I took off running.

Yep, and I didn't have to pay anything for mine (as mentioned earlier)..........except a small fortune in D cells and new bulbs . It'll definitely put some serious light out though.

Those are expensive flashlights! I'm sure my Maglite doesn't come close, even with the led, but it was free. Plus I can beat someone over the head with it!

Not scared to get conked in the head?! I know with the clips I had in the camper that the thing was never gonna fall out.

Scared to drill holes I guess! I'm wondering how the fit is, like if it's easy enough to get out with the door closed. I know people said it was tight, I'm wondering if the plastic makes it too tight. It would make me feel better to see someone has done it on their 2012. Pics would be nice.

I ordered the clips yesterday, I'll check out the fit when they come in.

JeeperJake I've also got a medium strap-on back of passenger seat 'day pack' thing. Had it on rigs over the past 25 years, adapting from back of console hump, to various cabin locations. Now if fits nicely behind the passenger neck area....except....

with the rear seat always folded up, I have to keep it empty....

flyinion Nice, I might have to do something like this. It's overkill I know, but I already own a nice heavy duty 6 D cell maglite (got it with safety program certificates for free when I worked at Boeing) and figure I might as well use that

JeeperJake great ideas one and all!

I used a smallish belt-holster for a small-med maglite, that slides easily over the E brake handle. It's out of the way, not in the way, easily accessible, and removable if I want. There's also room for another slightly larger belt pack, for such as small digial camera, cell phone, coffee bucks, a spare mag or two, and it too slides off easily, isn't in the way, etc etc etc.
