Fmaxpa yup its a four it was swap out from the 4.2
03-18-2008 01:41 PM
jpdocdave ya let us know about that, 90 4 cylinders had throttle body injection, maybe four cylinder swapped out.

spazinweasel can you get a pic posted?
03-17-2008 11:05 PM
Fmaxpa yeah Im pretty sure its a throttle body its off to the drivers side rather than right on top of the intake manifold and a friend of mine has one with a carb
03-17-2008 11:02 PM
spazinweasel if your sure its throttle body it was a mod. if its mpfi could be 4.0 head swap, complete 4.0 swap or mopar injection for the 4.2
03-17-2008 10:54 PM
Fmaxpa i will post some pics tommarow after work. the engine has throttle body injection and the tag under the hood says 4.2 is this poss or maybe someone swaped the engine?

jpdocdave holy crap, no matter what you did ok, unless the frame is rotted out, or the body is worse than you know. the hard top alone you could get 300-500 all day long. got pics?? i looked for 3 years to find a good project yj, i wanted one with bad motor, and good body, found perfect body and frame, blown 4.2 motor, i paid a grand. and i was happy as i could get.
the 4.0 is much better, fuel injection is much more problem free, and more powerful.
there's a lot of probs with that carb. still, i think you did great. give us some pictures.

Fmaxpa it runs good and I the rust is going to get fixed as soon as it gets a little warmer. But how is the 4.2 engine vs the 4.0?
03-17-2008 09:32 PM
George T. does it run good? if so, and the rust is repairable, id say you made out alright.

Fmaxpa
good deal or bad deal?

I just picked up a 90 wrangler with a 4.2 in it it is all stock and came with a hard top and a soft top it has some rust on the bottom of the windshield and a little on the drivers side behind the door. The computer and the fuel pump where just replaced. I paid $800 did I do alright or should I have pushed for a little lower?
