Update: I got the manifold off today. I was concerned about the bolts being hard to get out. Heck they nearly fell out in my hand. Is this normal or was something wrong. The manifold and intake just fell off once the bolts were gone. I had read post on them having to be pried off. Not these. That's why I am a little concerned.
I still haven't found one with the flex joint, so I guess i will pick one up at Auto Zone tomorrow since they have it in stock.

|terminator012||I have been looking around ebay. Do you have a link to the ones with the flex joint??|

|fire239||The manifold with the flex joint on E-Bay. Mines been on three years with no problems yet. Just buy a good Fel-Pro gasket to install and use copper spray on the gasket.|

|Mudweiser||I believe he had it bout 2 years before it did it again. I have heard mention of that expansion joint though just recently. I'm guessing it was something added to the later TJ models. The header install isn't too complicated, just time consuming. Assuming you have a pretty basic mechanical knowledge of course.|

Thanks for the reply. Not really what I was wanting to hear though. I am planning on doing this myself. I read some post about some with expansion joint but they may have been talking about the 4.0 though.
How long are they running these before they crack again??

|Mudweiser||Have 3 different friends with 97 wranglers in my area, they have been plagued with cracking manifolds. Most of them went with Borla Headers, they are a bit pricey but came with a lifetime warranty. One of them had the Borla crack in the same place though, although the company did replace it no charge. But no charge includes me removing it from the Jeep....shipping it to them....them shipping the new one back....then the labor of puttin it back on. I cant imagine what a shop would charge to remove it..let it sit for a week...then put it back on. Just food for thought.|

Best Manifold for 97 TJ
The 97 Tj I recently bought has a leak in the exhaust. I was hoping it was coming from the donut gasket but it appears it may have a small crack in the manifold. It has the 2.5 motor and I was wondering what the best replacement was and a good place to get one.
