HD Wrangler I just went with the rampage. Happy so far. Only had it a couple of weeks. Since storage is at a premium in jeeps, I was sold on the window storage and the small map pockets. Heres mine. My two-year old loves the larger windows.
Sorry for the double pics. Android error.

LilYeller I have the Rampage frameless soft top for about a year now and I have to say I wouldnt put another top on. The top is easy to put on and off (about 5 min either way) once you get the hang of it. I like the fact that the windows come all the way off so it looks like you have a bikini top instead of just rolled up your windows. And it is the only one that you can store the windows inside the top and take them with you. I would definately recommend this top for anyone who wants have the feel of the top being off but not bake in the direct sunlight.

on: (only when its raining for more than 2 days in a row)

off: (almost always looks like this)

jeffhartzler Just changed from OEM soft top (Like new condition) to a hard top and wont be needing the soft top anymore. I am only looking to get $400.00 (includes all hardware) but I am in Lakeland, FL and shipping would be a pain.

Works like a charm. Occasionally one of the cord zipper pulls on the rear window will pop out of the zipper but it's my fault for not watching how it's hanging. Not an issue and fairly easy to slide it back in the zipper. Again, this is the cord, not the metal slider that pops off.

I would have no problem buying another Smitty top based on my experiences with it so far.

Cowboy6686 Best bang for yout buck? meh it depends if you already have hardware for the top then you can just buy a new fabric.. unless your hardware is beat up... 1995 and older... the hardware is nortorius(sp) and annoying! but in some cases Ive found the best bang for your buck isnt cheaper... nor is it obserdly exspensive... if your getting new hardware and fabric it'll cost ya around 500-700 depending on what you go with... Ive found that sites like JCwhitney and 4Wd.com seem to hold fairly good prices specially on Bestop... (its awsome to find a top when they have like 20% off... since then you save like $100 off the top!) In my preference... Bestop... is the way to go they're fabric is heavy duty and it lasts... I've used the Cargo cover and wind Jammer from Pavement tops... and it feels as light as it costed me for them... (about $50 a pop) my bikini top was heavier then the two combined! so do you research! its what I do and what I did before I decided to be jumping for joy when I got my TrekTop NX for free with my jeep! (also came with a hard top!!!)

So even though it has already broke due to bad design you are saying you have had no problems with it?! Lol

Dragonii Amazon.

You have to get the top, the windshield header bar and the tailgate bar. The stock tailgate bar may work, I'm not sure. I just bought the new one because my old one look ratty and you replace the top tailgate seal when you replace the bar.

If you scroll down you will see "add all three", that's everything you need because you already have full doors.

BestTop manufactures their tops in Mexico. Geoff from Besttop posted that on the forums before. I don't know if any tops are actually made in the USA these days, unfortunately.

swank08 Yea it does look pretty cool, where did you end up buying yours
02-29-2012 12:15 PM
Dragonii I've never bought Smitty, thanks for the warning.

Swank08, what sold me on the Rampage was the frameless part. I love the fact that it just stretches over the roll bars.

Yeah, it would have to come off and be rolled up. the bar that you mount on top of the windshield stays, once it's on it's on.
The thing I liked about it was that it has a storage bag built into it for the windows. If you take the three windows out they store inside of the top and are protected and out of the way. I think the storage bag can be pulled out and the whole top can be folded up and put in the bag as well.

I'm going to mess with it this weekend and figure it out better.

coletrickle EBAY. I have bought 2 tops on there. One I needed frame also and found it. OEM sailcloth top is the best.

swank08 Thanks for all the info here fellas I appreciate it, ill have to do some more review reading I guess..I do have another question though, if I order say just a replacement soft top from smitty or rampage, is the frame work from my current top (bestop sunrider) going to work?
02-28-2012 11:53 PM

Dragonii Well, I just put it on for the first time tonight. It was a pain to get on, but I think that's just because it was cool outside and the top was new. Once it stretches it should be pretty easy.
You put the front channel in, snap the door channels in and the tie off the two back corners.

I guess I'll find out when the summer gets here.
02-28-2012 09:44 PM
Drock1979 The rampage top looks sweet but looks like a nightmare to take off and put on if it began to rain or something. Is there anything I am missing or is it just a pain?

Dragonii Amazon.com: Smittybilt 9970235 Black Diamond OE Style Replacement Top with Tinted Window for Jeep Wrangler: Automotive

Cheapest I've seen.

I just bought a Rampage frameless top. Just finished putting it on about an hour ago.
It ran $425 for the complete kit, but I love it.
It hugs the roll bars instead of using a frame.

x2----look at the different tops read reviews, think about what you want it to do.....look at my Red Jeep..that is a fully enclosed halftop...there are a lot of choices.

Once you get it narrowed down come back and ask about one or two you are undecided about.

Generally speaking you get what you pay for.
02-28-2012 09:21 PM
Crazyflyingplastics if you already have the hardware, i would go with Rampage soft top. I picked one up for 280 on amazon with free shipping. This is the 2nd one from rampage I've had. Best Top is probably the best, but I can't justify spending that much on a top. Living in texas, the top is down most of the time for me.
