airborne*yj Love this idea, think for me I'd have to find a way to wrap around the inside of the windshield frame. Have a soft-topper and there's a small gap at the front of the half door upper sliders that could benefit some extra steel. There's also a possibility of adding in some mirror relocation mounts as well... Think I've got another project here... Great work YJ.
Damn auto correct...

mattchew1296 I love the idea. I am wanting to make something similar. Would it be possible to get some morre pictures of the attaching to jeep, construction, and wiring location into jeep?

yjJEEPyj Anything i can do to help CaseAce! GL on your Bar! when you get it finished throw up a pic so i can check it out! Oh and.. I Recommend.. Making the top Bar (the Gaurd) A inch or inch and a half taller.. I would of liked mine a little taller because its blocking some light.. But it depends on the angle of the bar.. And how offset forward it is.

CaseAce000 wow! haha thanks jyJEEPjy

when you give dimensions, you dont mess around!

haha But I appreciate the time you spent labeling it all out like that, I feel 100% confident now that I can repeat what you did and throw a baddass lightbar on my baby

Jeep_Gypsy I'll go take a look at that thread.
03-08-2012 02:33 PM
yjJEEPyj Thanks Gypsy. Next up i will be making Front cage And supporting the rear passenger cage more. I'll prolly have that Under my build thread.

Nope, and I don't know how to weld either.. I've never really had a big need for a welder.. The one or two times I did I had a friends dad do it, but that was a simple job, this is more complex.
03-07-2012 03:49 PM
yjJEEPyj I'v personally never folded my windshield down.. So i didn't even think about that!
03-07-2012 11:31 AM
kjg26 Any issue with collapsing the windshield frame by bolting it all the way through. I know some people have drilled and tapped holes and threaded a short bolt in.
03-07-2012 10:53 AM
yjJEEPyj IT's 78 degrees out! im going to go wash my girl
03-07-2012 10:52 AM
yjJEEPyj Ok heres the diagrams

Heres what that bolts look like on the inside of the frame

This is what i messed up on first time.. I didnt think about the Frame being narrower at the top! So what i did was cut the angle iron first.. Drill the whole bolt it on.. And tack it all up on the jeep then take it down and finish weld evrything else.

03-07-2012 10:15 AM
yjJEEPyj I'll make a Diagram today of all the sizes if ya want that. The angle iron is 1 inch and i secured it by drilling two holes threw the windsheild frame on each side i'll take pics in a sec. Your powder coating shop sounds Awesome! good for you! 8x8 is huge!

yj95wrangler Yeah I took a chance a couple months after I graduated high school and opened up my own powder coat shop. I bought a brand new spray booth, powder coat oven, powder coat machine/gun set up and everything. my #1 oven is 8ft wide 8ft tall and 20ft long my #2 oven is 3ft by 3ft by 3ft. That was 10 yrs ago this yr and still going strong. course at the time I was only the 2nd one in Arkansas doing it to the public im still the only one within a 100 mile radius.

95YamJam Looks great! I like to light protector. I swear that when I see jeeps with light on the top that they have ripped off more than one.
03-07-2012 07:05 AM
kjg26 What size angle iron did you use and how did you secure it?
03-07-2012 05:44 AM
CaseAce000 WOW great build!

Could ya do me a favor and tell me what sizes you cut everything? (ignoring the light brackets)

It looks really great and I wouldnt mind building something like this for myself!

03-07-2012 03:05 AM
yjJEEPyj dont you have accses to a welder xpress?? And Siffo I originally had the light bar painted red.. It almost seamed like.. To much red. So i sandblasted and painted black. But i May redo it and paint certain parts red.
03-06-2012 11:51 PM
Siffo3012 I have a white yj with black and red accents. Nice to see I'm not the only one. that top bar would look nice in red...
03-06-2012 11:38 PM
Xpress Build one for me??

I've been looking for a light bar that holds 4 lights, but I'd rather not pay the $160+ companies are charging for them. Plus I need one that can hold HID ballasts somewhere, as I intend to fit HID lights to the lights.
03-06-2012 11:14 PM
yjJEEPyj Yea i'm wanting to get it powder coated! My buddy has the whole kit he does car wheels and smaller things localy.. But his oven isnt big enuf If i had my own pipe bender Id love to Make and sell a few things! but running back and forth the the local metal working shop gets old quick!
03-06-2012 09:39 PM
yj95wrangler $100....Cheap enough and its a 1 off custom, cant go wrong there. Now if you only lived here in Arkansas, I could put a mean powder coat finish on that thing.
03-06-2012 09:38 PM
YJmaddness Ill ordèr 1
03-06-2012 08:37 PM
blazerone22 I really like that... Came out stellar!
03-06-2012 07:13 PM
yjJEEPyj Thanks! Spent about 100$ in metal and thats about it! I cut and redid like 7 times cuz i didn't like certain things. It wouldn't take nearly as much work next time
