Doncarlos That was a great way to save money and still get what you want and personalize it. Now you own it, no no no---- it owns you. Keep waving brother.

seanmil666 Congrats.
I guess I am the opposite.
I had to order a rubicon because I wanted one without the power windows, door locks, keyless entry, or nav system, etc. (all the ones on the lots seem to be fully loaded). All i wanted was dual top and tinted windows.
Delivery date next Tuesday and can not wait.

jp2611 I didn't see it put quite this way, so let me be the first.....

WELCOME TO THE ADDICTION!!!

Matador I'm just curious, what options were you considering in your dream Sahara that brought the price tag up to $38-$40k?

Hatt-Attack Great you realized the blessing in disguise. I took mine off lot fully loaded so I won't bitch too much, but if I did it again I would order Sport with Dana 44 and 4.10 gears and build her up proper the way you’re doing.

kbwwolf Who said it couldn't be done? The same insouciant Beemer peeps who lauged at your manual windows?

How gauche. How droll.

Drive over their shiny hoods in your Jeep, laughing as you roll all your windows down with the touch of a button.

the Kolector When I was reading over the list, I wondered why you didn't just order it that way, then I got to the bottom and read the last part, thats pretty substantial savings and wise to not pay for options you don't want. Congrats!

And they said it couldnt be done!!

Ok, so my story is a bit length so bare with me folks.

So i took the plunge into buying my first American car and got a 2012 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sport.

I currently own a 2006 Land Rover LR3 fully loaded (ex has possession at the moment) and I also own a very babied fully loaded BMW M3 that sits pretty in my garage all winter. So with the ex driving my winter car, and the winters here in Chicago getting worse, I decided I needed to buy an economical winter car to drive around.

My budget going into this was about 20K (did not want to finance). So I started looking around at some used SUV’s and then I came across the sexiest piece of machinery I ever seen. It was a 2012 JWU Sahara. This thing was sexy!! It had every option. It also had a price tag of 38K which was well over my budget.

Anyway, to make a long story short. I went ahead and bought the base model, figured I’d drive it around for a few months then trade it in for what I really wanted (Fully loaded Sahara).

Drove the Jeep for 2 days and I just could not bare with the NO power windows, NO Keyless entry, NO remote start, etc,. I even got laughed at from my BMW friends when I had to roll down the windows...It was driving me crazy!! I took the truck back to the dealer with 200 miles on it and asked what it would cost to trade it in for the Sahara. At this point I was willing to dish out the extra cash. After 2hrs of welling and dealing I was told I’d lose 5K off the bat!! So what did I do???

4 weeks later and I’m at 5K in mods and have gotten everything I wanted in my Jeep and love this thing to death!!

Here is the list so far:

1. Factor power latches w/wiring harnesses - $540
2. Factory power windows/ bezel and factor switches - $600
3. Viper Alarm with Remote start (5704) – $900 includes labor to wire doors and windows
4. 5 Brand new Sahara 18” wheels and tires (craigslist) - $1000
5. S Package factory knobs - $60.00
6. Pioneer Avic Z130BT, IPod adapter, rear camera - $1000
7. 4 - 6.5 Polk Audio Speakers DIX650 - $180
8. Polk Audio PA300.1 AMP - $150
9. Polk Audio 8” MM840 SVC Sub, Factory Infinity Sub Enclosure (ebay) – $200
10. Limo Tints - $200

The way I see it is my Jeep out the door was close to 27K. The Jeep I really wanted was 38K, maybe 40ish out the door. I spent 5K on the things I wanted and I still have 7K left over for future mods like 35’s and a lift kit!

The ex can keep the Land Rover….I’m a Jeeper for life!!!

Pics coming soon
