Here is my TJ as it stands with 31.9x10.5 Dick Cepek Bone Crushers... on 15x8 4" bs.

With a 2.5" SL, you think 33x11.5's will work?

AND

As I read this, Im under the impression that after a 2.5" Lift, I DONT need to replace my Drive shaft... only if I wanted to go above 3", I would have too....

If all you want are looks go with 2" BB and 1.25" BL. Put on 33's and add appropriate bumpstops. Done and cheap.

He was just talking about 4" lift with 1.25" BL and tube fenders. For 35's and a d35 you need at least chromo shafts or the super35 kit that includes a locker. Upgrade steering and brakes as well. You'll need 4.88 gears with most setups, some would say 5.13 if you have the 3 speed auto but your limited to 4.88 with the d30 front.

cadenas Yea I'm going to order it tomorrow. Been doing my research for the last few months. I know it ain't the best lift kit but its pretty good for its price and haven't heard anything bad about it

Those are the ones you need to adjust the pinion angle. You don't need a tummy tuck to run a SYE/DS combo. That is just for more clearance.
Yea... I have a 3.5" lift and 33" and no rubbing in any way, no rocking, and no vibrations

Still have the stock rims with 31x10.5's they do rub a little in tight u turns. Just got a set off 33x12.5 retail around $800 and crager soft 8 from jegs for $315 shipped with center caps. Ill tell you i didnt do the SYE and CV till 5 months after the lift and i was pissed when i did the lift cause i didnt do my research.

Will George my tj came with a 4 inch lift, 32's too, so I'm gonna put 33's on it soon =) and a 1.25inch bl and flat fender kit, should end up looking great and wheeling pretty well.
wish i had a 6inch long arm kit with 35's 488 gears a ford 8.8 rear axel and a 44 front locked up on black crawler rims, but what other jeeper wouldnt

mitymouse If you do a zone 4 inch you dont need sye, driveshaft, or any extras. you can easily run 33's
02-29-2012 07:16 PM
oIIIIIIo If you go with a 4" lift, you are opening up another can of worm. You will need to do a sye, cv driveshaft, rear upper CA's and all this can get pretty expensive.

The ideal tire size for a 4" lift is 33" tires.
02-29-2012 06:09 PM
02Prove if you just want to run 33s and have the Jeep "look" I'd suggest a 2.5" suspension lift and 1.25" body lift. I know you said you didn't want a BL but realistically lifting the Jeep 4" could potentially cost you a lot of money in the long run just trying to achieve the look. Another (more costly) option is to buy a high line or tube fenders. Then you could run larger tires with no lift at all.

For what you're saying you want to do a 2.5" lift and 32s will likely get you very close to what you want.
02-29-2012 06:00 PM
cadenas By the way the kit runs $500 from baseline
02-29-2012 05:58 PM
cadenas I might be Wrong but my understanding is that if you go over 3 inches on a suspension lift you will have to do much more besides that lift kit. There's a zone 4.25 that has a 3 inch suspension and 1.25 body lift. You wouldn't have to buy anything else. No tummy tuck or anything. This is what I'm about to order and heard good things about it, if its your DD stay with the regular shock not the nitrogen shocks they will ride rougher. Hope this helps and doesn't confuse you

Need Help Building My TJ

Okay, I'm clueless.
I own a 98 Jeep Wrangler. The only time it goes off roading is through the cornfield or across the yard, nothing extreme. So, I'm trying to make it look good for the summer. I want to put a lift kit on it. (not a body lift). I was hoping to go 4 inches, if I can without going through all the extra work. I also wanted to get some new wheels and tires... I've been looking at cragar soft 8 rims.
So my questions are..

What brand/kind of lift kit do you recommend? (not killing me on budget, but not cheap stuff)

What tire size and rim size do you think would look best with the lift?

I'm extremely clueless where to start, but I got some money and it's going be a great summer. Thanks for the help.
