spendmoney thanks, makes a lot of sense. any suggestions on inexpensive aux. brakes

Dextreme I flat tow my TJ with my 1 Ton dually without aux brakes, yet I would have aux brakes on any tow vehile smaller than a 3/4 Ton truck.

The problem with your Outlook will be it stopping power with it's brakes (as mentioned). Also, you get on a long downhill grade and you will smoke your pads.

spendmoney my outlook weighs in at 6,400. Does that make a difference and would the aux brakes make it much safer in a panic stop? thanks

4Jeepn While the outlook comes in a 4700lbs in weight... you will be asking the stock brake system to stop close to 8000k+ in mass total. If you have to make a panic stop, it could be bad.

gunslinger24 No need for aux brakes, but good luck!! The Saturn is light weight, I would worry about the jeep taking your Saturn for a ride.

Want to flat tow my 89 yj

I want to flat tow my 89 YJ with a Saturn outlook 2007 using a tow bar. Do I need to get an aux. brake system or am i OK without one? I've gotten a lot of information on how to flat tow the jeep but no one has mentioned an aux. brake. I know that towing with an Rv there are laws per state, but I didn't know if that applies when using a car to tow a car. I live and Delaware and probably would only go to New Jersey, Pa, or Maryland. Thanks for any advice
