Certainly better than what I did, but it worked. Measured the gap - cut a pice of wood on bandsaw - drilled hole - painted black - backed it with scrap piece of rubber - mounted with a longer screw.

Of course, now that I've posted this and re-read the original post - I see that you already bought the bumpers. Oops.

Spare Tire Bumper Isolator Mod?

I bought another set of the bumpers, now I just need to add them on to the original bumpers. Iam doing this since my new wheels have more backspacing than the originals and the tire does not touch the bumpers. I can measure the distance of open air between the original bumper and the edge of the tire but how much more should I add? 1/8", 1/4", 3/8", etc. so that the tire will squish down on the bumper when I tighten down the spare tire. Thanks for the help, Scooby
