DevilDogDoc Oh I know what the arms are, I didn't know that they used them with leaves also. All the ones I had seen ran with coils and the few 250-350's I looked at had the leaf setup, didnt look close enough to see the TTB on there I guess. Thanks for the info!

Ibuildembig The TTB isn't springs, its twin traction beams. Basically two arms that go from side to side and have a pivot. They can either have leafs on top of them or coils.

Ibuildembig Nope 80-84 F250 and F350 had them and 85-97 F250's did too all running leafs. The only way a straight axle was available after 84 was in the F350 and only kingpin till 91.

DevilDogDoc I always thought that the HD fords all ran leaves up front, the 150's had the TTB.

rda616 The full size axles are about 69" wide the stock tj axles are about 60.5" wide. It would look a bit funny with mismatched axles.

rda616 If it's a 84 it's a ttb front. Ford reintroduced the hp60 in 85 85-91.5 are the same and have a very small area to work with on the driver side due to such a small section of axle tube. The 77.5-79 is a better choice for a tj.

The rear is a 60 . But if I was going thru all the trouble of getting one ton axles under a jeep I would use a much stronger ford 10.25 rear. They have better ground clearance then a 14 bolt and bigger shafts as well.

UnlimitedLJ04 Sure, you just need to do all the fabrication & rework necessary:
  • cut all the Ford brackets off, weld on new TJ brackets
  • brackets need to be in correct place for caster, pinion angle, arm geometry, and more...
  • EDIT: it's a TTB front end, so you can't use the front axle..
  • readjust bumpstop extensions
  • possibly relocate or modify the gas tank to clear the larger diff pumpkin
  • change wheels to new bolt pattern
  • figure out the brake lines and e-brake
  • possibly change the master cylinder to power the larger brakes (ask "Black Magic Brakes" for advice on this)
  • Most folks running these types of 1-ton axles are running ~40" tires, with little TJ body left, full roll cage, coil-overs, fuel cell in the tub...think rock crawler competition buggies.
  • probably more i'm forgetting....

F350 axles in Jeep?

I can get a good deal on '84 F350 axles, Can i fit them in my 03 wrangler x. I know you can stick them in a YJ but I'm just wondering if its possible to stick one in to replace my D35
