Nubby55 Yes do pull the front of the tires out to get all the slack out, I just measure from rim to rim as close to center line as I can.

Good description.......one other thing to remember is if you are adjusting the toe-in and have to measure several times, after each adjustment, bounce the jeep a few times and also pull the front of the tires out...(needs two people) this helps to set the toe and you get a better measurement.....learned this from years in stock car racing..

darkproximity You don't need to take it to an alignment shop. Its actually pretty simple to do one yourself. With the exception of using shims to adjust caster, the only adjustment you can make on a yj is toe in. Which is a matter of adjusting the tie rod in or out

DirtyRob DarkProx said what I was gonna. You need to take it to an alignment shop and tell them what is going on. I am fairly sure you will find that the drag link can be adjusted at the pitman arm to get the steering wheel back in line. It is easy to do, but it sounds like your alignment is off causing your problem with it pulling and all. Good luck

darkproximity over time when your suspension sags it brings the pitman arm down, thus altering the geometry of the steering linkage, you should do an alignment and make sure your toe in is about 1/16th to 1/8th of an inch in, and then adjust your drag link after to re center your steering wheel.

As for the gear box as mentioned above, the steering shaft should only go on one way, and the pitman arm is keyed to the output shaft of the steering gear. there is an adjustment screw as well on the gear box to tighten up your steering if it starts getting sloppy.

No need to pull the steering wheel off when in actuality you should really be adjusting where the problem is occurring, not where you're noticing it. when your wheel is dead center your pitman arm should also be pointing back dead center.

Dutch 95 I think I have the same issue (accept mine is a bit worse, wheel is probably 10 degrees off on ours). I've replaced the steering shaft from the wheel to the box (no adjustment in that), I think that the steering box must have been replaced before, and might be off a tooth or two.

Pulls to right slightly, steering wheel to the right... Help?

The whole time I have had my Jeep I haven't really addressed this issue... Basically it has a tiny bit of a pull to the right when rolling down the road. The steering wheel is turned to the right slightly, as you can see here:



That's with all of the tires at an even 36PSI. What could be at play here? Drag link out of adjustment?
