raycer It does it stopped or rolling

Garyk Does this noise happen when moving or stopped????If it makes it while stopped it could be your pilot bearing or as darkproximity says, the input shaft...
Still would not rule out the throwout bearing either

raycer Would that entail a rebuild or is it something that can be done with rebuilding? The teanny itself was rebuilt not very long ago by previous owner.

darkproximity Sounds like its your input shaft bearing on the transmission itself

raycer Anymore ideas? I'm going to pull the plug on the tabby and check the fluid tomorrow and probably the t case too

raycer Something to add. I also notice a whine that is present and responds to the RPM range, and it goes away if I remove the tranny out of gear; clutch inor out, it maks the whine

crafty That could be it. I had my actual clutch completely fall apart once in my first rig but that is rare. Pulling the driveshaft and noise goes away then it is probably something with the driveshaft or universals.

raycer Come to think of it, my front shaft universals are going...

crafty Pull your front driveshaft and see if the noise stops. Sounds strange but try it.

raycer Really?

The Jeep drives and shifts fine though, just noisy

crafty Don't think so, usually that makes noise when you push the clutch in. Just replaced mine this wknd.

Noise while clutch is out

My yj started making a loud squeally, rattling sound that goes away when I push the clutch pedal in. Is that the throw out bearing?
