Imped The skid plate doubles as a crossmember. Just get down there and look.

WaterDR With stock fender flares and no wheel spacers, most will probably tell you 32. 31 or 32 is a good choice. You will have problems going much larger due to gear ratios anyway.

10.5 inch wide is probably the max but depends on rim back spacing.

Lots if factors really.

Putting a 31 on your stock rim is by far the cheapest option.

Going with 33s, new rims, and $1000 or more gear job gets pricey. But all depends on what you want.

If you have a 4 banger, the gear issue will be more needed too.

Jerry Bransford With a 2" suspension lift, the largest tire you can run without rubbing is a 32x11.50. But you'll need aftermarket wheels to position that wide of a tire out a tad further so its inside sidewalls won't rub.

It is possible you may get a minor amount of drivetrain vibration even with just a 2" suspension lift, which you can't just "live with" if it happens. But no worries, that is easily cured by dropping the t-case a half-inch with washers between the t-case skidplate and frame. With your '97, the OE t-case bolts are long enough to allow that 1/2" drop without longer bolts. Newer TJs can't do that without using longer bolts.

And technically, it is the transmission that is mounted to/supported by the t-case skidplate. The t-case itself doesn't actually touch the skidplate.

TJspeed 1. yes it is.

2. no you dont need to.

I have a 2" bb on my jeep. no drive line vibs. My uncle put a 2" bb on his and got vibs. with a 2" lift its a hit or miss if you get vibs or not. I mean you could buy the TC drop and just send it back if you dont need it.

A bit confused...

so i just purchased a 2" rubicon express budget boost. i have not yet put it on the jeep but i hear it may cause some vibrations and i wanna be prepared to drop the t-case. here is where im confused i went on a site and it said that dropping the skid plate will eliminate the vibrations how is that possible? the only conclusion i can come up with is that the t-case is mounted to the skid pan its self.... anyways.

Question 1: Is the t-case mounted to the skid pan?

Question 2: Should i buy a drop kit before i install the lift?
