1 Bad Snake I looked at my build sheet incorrectly, I have 3.73's. Thanks for pointing that out I am sure it would have confused some of the answers.

I would recommend getting the same gearing on both ends otherwise the first time you shift into 4 wheel drive you are going to have some issues lol. I am sure you are just misunderstanding something.

1 Bad Snake After hours of reading, I have decided I am going to go from my stock 18's to 17's. I will be putting the teraflex 2" leveling kit and 19/60 springs, on my 2011 JKU. I also have a Diablo In Tune 1000, if I go with the recommended 285/70/17 (33's?) I understand there will be no rubbing issues.

yes and yes but not at the same time. 285/70-17 need to go on 17" rims and 07-14 stock base sport models come/came with 16" rims

FIREMEDIC82 Hang on, I am still a lil confused. 285/70/17 will not fit on stock rims?

Is it guaranteed that 16" wheels will fit on an 08 JK?

briguy64 My head is spinning with this new jeep, between suspension and wheels!

I've read the posts around the Pintlers as I'm pretty much settled on them, and rather than get a lift or a leveling kit now I'm going to run them with 285/70 tires until I can figure out what I really want to do. This is a complete DD, maybe some dirt trails to camp grounds but that's it. Pintlers have 5.2inches of backspacing, sounds like this setup would rub during flex, but seeing as this jeep won't see that I'm more concerned with rubbing at full turn lock out. Any thoughts if I will rub mounting as is, or would I have to get some washers?

I could be wrong but I believe that companies have to install them on new cars but the customers don't have to keep them maintained, kinda like the tags on a mattress. I looked at the government's website and found a lot of "here's why you should use it" stuff. If it were a federal requirement, I don't think they would be so nice about it. Your local laws might say something different.

I've heard a number of people talk about ProCal. I read up on it and it does a good bit of stuff. If you get a different size tire you can fix the speedometer. When I got larger tires, I didn't get them with the sensors installed. The warning light would go off whenever I started my Jeep. Actually, it would go off with the stock wheels even though they were properly inflated. The light didn't bother me enough to pay $160 to turn it off. Now I just pretend the little tire symbol only comes on when I'm overdue in taking my Jeep to the trails.

Another rim question

Is the tire pressure monitor system in the wheel required by law?

If it isn't, how do I bypass the system so I don't get a warning light?

But it has a similar look. I'm not a fan of shiny silver stuff. I'm a fan of subdued stuff. To me, shiny looks showy and subdued looks functional. I'm sure it has something to do with my military background. But as you know, it's your Jeep so it's whatever you like. But you just seemed desperate to hear the opinions of others and nobody else had stepped up yet so I wanted to help you out with your request.

Yes, I think I am going to purchase them and mount a 28/75-16 tire on them.

Yes, I agree that color/style is subjective. I am planning to run 285/75-16's on the rims.

Hillcrester Hi, I'm hoping to purchase a 2014 Wrangler Sport and read that "one of the most common wheel/tire combos on this site is the 15x8 MB 72 wheel with 33x12.5x15 Duratrac tires". So I wondered if these rims and tires would work:
33x12.50R-15LT Grabbers and MT Classic III 15x8 with 3.625 backspacing. I'm sure it seems like a 'stupid' question to some but I've been out of the loop on wheels and tires and any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks.

I have been doing a lot of reading since we got our new to us 2007 Wrangler X. We love it... I have asked a few questions on this site and you have replied with the answers. I need an opinion.

I want to change wheels and eventually tires. I would like to get the wheels shown on http://www.summitracing.com/parts/ar...FY3m7Aod4RwA3w

Not going to rock climb or do any heavy duty 4 wheeling, but I would like something a little nicer looking than the stock rim.

Your opinions please.

jadmt like indylee said just put a couple washers in the steering stops or add Spidertrax wheel spacers. that is what I did and have no issues at all.
