Determine your budget first. Also ask yourself, "Will any of the terrain I intend to go on, require the clearance and floation of 35's?" (deep ruts, snow, mud, big bolders, etc) If so, usually if the terrain requires 35's just to get through, then it also going to require strong and reliable parts to support the rotational mass and strain of the 35's.

Imped Research, research and more research. There's way, way more to it than "lifting it and throwing on some meats."

02Prove Auto or Manual 4 or 6 cyl... if you have 3.07 gears you will feel underpowered with either.

If you have a 6 cyl manual it won't be too terrible with 33s but you will feel the difference.

What rear axle do you have? and yes you will loose power going to 33's and be a total dog once you get to 35's if you don't regear

Dextreme I think the main thing to consider is how long you intend to keep it. If you have your heart set on a newer Jeep, then keep the '97 as is. If you are going to hang on to it for more than a few years...modify it.

Just try to keep it mind that a $8000 Jeep is still only worth ~$8000 if you dump $2K into it in modifications.

02Prove Keep it... Build it... Jeep it... This should be your new mantra!

XJ Knight The jeeps just broken in at 122K.. Up to you but Jeeps older then yours are bought and lifted all the time.. A 97 TJ with that low of miles is far far far from being done
