xsdbs It''s actually too bad that some of these techs are only interested in collecting a paycheck and have no interest in keeping of with things. Unfortunately, there are too many techs out there that think that just because they've be a tech for several years, that there's nothing more to know and they have that "you can't tell me anything" attitude. What they don't understand is that in this fast paced world, you have to keep learning in order to keep earning. I often have told my children after them asking "how do you know about that dad", the day when I stop learning will be the day that I have 6 ft of dirt on me.
These techs need to get involved with the accessories that are in the vehicle, spend some time at work when it's slow with the vehicles and learn how to use the systems as well as stepping up to these Smart Phones. What they need to know, instead of saying "I don't need on those Smart Phones and all the APP stuff" is that the phone is a tool. Just like going out and buying screwdrivers, sockets etc, they need the phone and they need to know how to use it with the system that is provided by the manufacturers.
Sorry about the rant.

If they would have asked, they would have gone to www.dealerCONNECT.com, logged in, said that I had a sales code of REN associated with my vin, and then flash it. Thats it! its amazing how much the dealer doesnt know.

xsdbs One thing to consider is that the REN is a 2010, Uconnect did not support Bluetooth streaming audio till 2011. This was because the radio didn't have the SW to support it completely. You may be able to stream audio but you may also have some limitations.

strider_mt2k Yes.
"Be careful" when sourcing replacements to make sure you get the right thing.

Good advice!

xsdbs The RER radio is completely different from the REN radio. Total different manufacturer. I would tell them just to flash it to the "RSP" code. If they don't want to do that because of the radio model (your vehicle comes with either the REQ, RES, RHB or the RBZ), then just tell them to flash it to the "RSP" code and that you'll change the radio out when you get home.

Mr.Dave Yeah, I know they work for the RER models, no problem, I was trying to add it to the REN with no nav, no bluetooth. My dealer acted like my parents in the old days, consulting me on how to live life, as well as add bluetooth to my vehicle.

pdubois64 When I bought the mike for my 09 and hooked it up (RER) it just worked. I didn't need anything done at the dealer. I also bought the RER off eBay, it wasn't origional to the vehicle.

UConnect - Be CAREFUL!!!

I had bought my jeep last year at this time, and it had the regular radio, with the uconnect buttons, but no bluetooth....like normal. I then went to the trusty ebay and purchased a REN (non nav) mygig. So naturally, I wanted the bluetooth, so I bought the module online, and did the install myself, its pretty easy. But when I went to the dealer to have it flashed, they told me that since I used a different radio, that it could not be flashed. Does this seem correct? I have never seen on the forum here where people have issues with that. Is my dealer stiffing me? Theyve had it for 6 hours now, and want me to pay. Im wondering if I take my old radio in, have them flash it, then take it out and put the mygig back in...
