AzTJ The tire question I cannot answer as I don't have any real JK knowledge.

As for the wheels... you'll hear conflicting answers from everyone, but the only reason steel wheels exist are because they are cheap. Alloy/Aluminum wheels really are the best.

Need help with tire question...

I have a 2008 Unlimited X 4 door with the s package. I recently saw a jeep with Mickey Thompson BAJA MTZ 315/70R17. Could I put those tires on my Jeep without any lifts? If so, what size wheels will I need? While I'm asking, STEEL or ALLOY? Any help appreciated...
