|Dutch 95||I was just going to say, "You own a Jeep, buy tools!" You will get sick of paying people to do simple tasks like this.|

|Dutch 95||Truthfully, it's only eight bolts, shouldn't be more that $20-30 I wouldn't think. My wife and I had ours off and new one on in about 20 minutes.|

Don't have the tools to do the job myself so I will probably carry it to a 4x4 parts place and let them do it. Thanks again. Oh...any thoughts on how much I should let them charge me?

i bought mine from the same vendor and its the other style they sell. im extremely satisfied with the quality. they are willing to bend over backwards to make sure you are happy with the purchase. another vendor that sells them is truck_and_winch. good luck with it. oh and the finish was a little boogered up when i got it so they gave me 50 bucks back to make up for it. just a thought

|Dutch 95||Got a pic of what the one you want looks like? That seller has other styles they sell also. If you if you use the link and look to the right side of the screen in blue there is a "see other items from this seller" that will let you see what other ones they offer.|

|wrangler_bear||Good advice. Dutch 95, thanks for the Ebay link but that's not the style I'm looking for. I currently have a Warn bumper with W's on each side. I can't afford Warn the bumper. The bumper and swing arm would run me about 900. Are there any other bumpers out there that are just as good but cheaper? I know you get what you pay for but perhaps I can come close to the quality of Warn. Also would like to stick close as possible to that Warn style. Don't want to have something too different from the front bumper. Any suggestions?|

I've seen tailgates torn by the weight of the spare. Remember it doesn't only have to hold the weight, it has to hold it after you hit bumps too. This is what I went with, and LOVE IT!!!!!!!!

loosen your bolts and set your tailgate up higher and then retighten. I noticed when I took my stock spare off [ I know I know, yes a stock one ] the tailgate had to be pulled down to latch. When I put it back on it closed perfectly.
Most likely you will beable to get enough adjustment out of it.

|olbaid_83||spend the money. check ebay i got my rear bumper with tire carrier for less than 300. i have 33x12.5 on there and it holds fine. i would not recomend keeping a 33 on the stock carrier. its asking for bad news|

|BT||The OEM tire carrier does good to hold a standard spare. I completely removed my carrier just the other day.|

Spare tire excessive weight on tailgate
Wondering has anyone run into this problem. My 93 yj has the spare tire mounted on the tailgate. The weight (33's) of the tire is causing stress on the hinges to the point of having to lift and then slam shut the tailgate. I've inquired about getting the bumper with the swing arm tire holder but sounds like it would cost about 500 on up. I have put some money into this jeep and I get stares and compliments everywhere I go. Just don't know if it's worth putting more money into it. Are there any alternatives? Or should I just spend the money and secure the spare tire and save my tailgate from falling off due to excessive weight?
