AzTJ The break numbers for a D35 is 3.55... if your getting 4.10 gears, you will need a new carrier.

I'd take it to a more knowledgeable 4WD shop, because they can do a gear change for about the same price, including labor and parts.

50% say new carriers - 50% say no need!!

This subject is driving me crazy! I think the best thing to do is to get a quote from my dealership and have them stick to it then let them worry about the need or no-need for carriers. I like to think that they know their stuff but I am getting conflicting information.

Thanks.

3.07 to 4.10 Gears

After much research I have been told that I can change my 3.07 gears in my Dana30&35's to 4.10 without new carriers. The dealership I bought my TJ from has quoted $1000 for the labor and two days to do the work. I looked at gears on a site called accuautoparts.com their gears are $147 a set but the rest of the install kit will add about $120 for each axle so the parts will come to about $500; any thoughts?
