Oh what fun...the wiring mess looks insanely familiar!! Harness looks awesome after!! I did the same to mine. Keep up the good work and keep us apprised of your progress.

2 Sided Tape was not coming off with a scotchbright and puddy knife, I stopped in at Home Depot this morning and grabbed some Goof Off.
Here is what I was dealing with.
This tape is everywhere, I only did the back today. Here is what it looked like when I was finish
Finishing up the front tomorrow.

Today I began the strip down of the cab for my Por15 coating. I found a few suprises!
Drivers side floor is starting to show signs of rust. No holes though.
The previous owner screwed this one up, I noticed some rust flacking around a black mass. Turns out he covered these holes with silicone.
While inspecting the frame [which is in awsome condition becuase of a Zbart Undercoat] I discovered this on my shock towers.
This is at the rear shock tower welds. Not sure how I am going to go about getting these derusted and protected!
I also decided while I was at it im going to remove all my torx bolts and clean them up and reinstall with Neversieze.
I pulled and threw away the PO's custom carpet job. Looks like speaker box carpet, getting the 2 sided tap off the inside of the tub is proving tedious.
Still have to remove all the 2sided tape, seats, heaterbox, and a few steering column parts. Then Ill be on to cleaning prep and painting, and possibly Herculiner to topcoat the Por15 before I put the carpet back in.

Day Three of the wiring harness:
So I was done tracing all my mystery wires, checking for melted wires, so I decided to remove the harness from the Beast.
As you can see I tagged everything and have done some light sperating, still looks a mess.
Here is the after.
After flex looming the harness I used some fast drying electronics cleaner and a small wire brush to make sure the connecters where clean.
Here it is free hanging, back in the general position. I reconnected the fuse box and plugged in the ignition wires to make sure my Jeep started, and it did.
Ill just leave it hanging like this until I finish with my Por 15 derusting and protective coat. Which now that im done with the wiring is next up on the list.

Currently im working on my wiring. First I took the dash off.
This shorted some time ago, PO hooked up an electric fan to the distributer power wire. [Yeah No Fuse]

First thing I did was my wheels. These have what they looked like for awhile.
This is what they looked like after I removed the clear coat and used a scotchbright to remove the "Brushed" finish from the wheels.
I need to put another coat of polish on, the finish is almost done like I want it.

1988 Jeep Wrangler
Its been about 7 years since the install, Just got it running after 2 years out of commision. New flexplate, Carb., Wires Cap, plugs etc. Since I finally got some time im working on getting her back in tip top shape.
