2015 JK Unlimited.... I used the Raycor platform and just ran straps along each side through the back, to behind the back door.

made a picture in paint...
each "leg" on a rig bears an equal % of the weight, so 4 "legs" = 25% load or 30 pounds on only 2 pulleys. just hafta remember that a floating pulley bears the load of both legs when you factor in ma load ratings on each component.
Same principles apply to using a winch, so a couple snatch blocks can do some pretty amazing things, especially if you have a second cable handy

Love my hoist!
We basically copied the Lange hoist and it probably cost us $125 at most. I have left it up there for over a month at a time and inspected and everything looks great. I am quite confident that hanging it for a season would be no problem. We just attached an eye hook to the storage area in our garage and cliped it to the window and the hoist hook with carabineers to keep it from spinning.
And building it was a good bonding experience with my Jeep! I can guarantee that the top loves me for it because otherwise I am sure I would have dinged it up a few times lifting it on and off.
I would post a picture but it says the file it too large. I have no idea how to re-size it....

exactly. Why spend $100 for a cheap electric winch or $400 for an expensive electric winch when you can just add a few more pulleys and make it super easy to lift. Im planning on doing something similar in the next few weeks. With one pulley your are lifting 120#, two pulleys, 60#, put 120 pulleys on there, and you can have your 2 year old lift it up or strap the lift line on your cat and give it a slap on the ass.

|kozmos||I installed the Racor hoist and pulled the top off by myself. Its a great one person setup. I used 2 ratchet straps from front to back it's still up after 3 days! I pulled the top then installed the new soft top. We're ready for the sun, 3 straight days of rain, 5+ inches of rain! I've moved on to the race car now...|

38 dollars does not include the boat cleats I already had bolted to my hard top...
an hour or so, and voila.
Single point of failure load limit is the rope at 200 pounds. lowest load limit is the pulleys at 110 (there are 4 of them, one on each corner, and a bigger 300 pounder on the single down line), so if I hang it from a single hook, i might bust a pulley. hoisted it and bounced it around a bunch about 6" off the jeep while standing inside just in case, and no issues at all . learned a couple things...
first, it's very hard to heave 110 pounds of hard top using a 5/16 nylon line (it can be hoisted as is, but it warn't easy, and the wife can't hoist it at all)... going to add a luff tackle as soon as I find one (or a 100# double pulley to make on out of) and bring it down to 30 pounds of pull or so.
secondly, and completely unrelated, is that if you have 33X12.5 tires on 15X 10 rims, they prevent the mirror ding if you let one of the doors fly open on accident (I was putting in door hanger hooks at the same time and had one off to check spacing. let the passenger side door open without the strap hooked up and thought I had matching dings on both sides, but the door bounced off the tire instead)

Looks suspect IMO that same electric winch is on sale at Haborfreight for 99 dollars. Don't know how much that framing can cost, but 400 dollars for the whole package? I'm more intruiged with the "door hanger". From past experience the doors are a pain in the azz, weighing in @ 60 lbs each. To get them off the door hinge you basicall hold it in a curling position at the top with the window open lift and stagger to the closest place to set it down. The picture of that fancy door hanger suggests it's well above ground level, meaning you got to bicep curl the door off the jeep, walk around it to the wall, then lift it up and above the hanger and set it down. And again for the other. If the doors are guaranteed to be off the entire season then okay if you got time and energy or some one to assist. But from experience the doors are never off for the entire season, so doing this and the reverse a couple times in the seaon seems like an incredible waste of time, energy and money. If you have it in a one car garange, set the door on either side against the wall, if bigger, walk it to the front wall on either side. put a towel on the ground lean the doors against the wall with a cloth or another towel at the top and be done.
Otherwise this 400 dollar contraption kit certainly looks very nice.

I put four boat cleats on my top and sealed em with RTV so I could strap up a cargo bag for tents n blankets and such. reckon I'll probably be grabbing a few pulleys and some line before too long now that I has a garage

Do realize though, you may need a little stool to reach the ratchets (which I happen to carry anyway to dust/chamois off my hood). Still a one man job and no lifting.
BTW, the tie-downs make nice markers when backing up - no need for a 2nd person directing you...

I do have one question when using the ratchet straps. How do you lower the top ? I'm thinking that if you release the straps its going to come crashing down very quickly, no?

For no garage\no roofers, I'm really liking this guy's idea (found on another forum), you could even incorporate say boat trailer rollers or any other roller scheme to aid in moving it onto the table and off etc. According to the info, these new JK rooves weigh a piddly 100 lbs, nothing to get it moving IMO.

|CaliRubicon||Love the rancor. Easy to install and easy for one person to use. The rack doubles as a place for my Bimini and other accessories. You could use a power drill to raise and lower but it is so smooth manually that I haven't tried. Thinking of getting a ledger one for extra gear. Great space saver.|
