|Remus_Redbone||Hard to diagnose from AR, but sounds like the TO bearing is just rattling on the trans input shaft and is still working ok under pressure. You'll know if it's going out. With the clutch depressed you will hear metal on metal grinding / almost hisssing type noise and perhaps screeching and squealing depending on engine RPM. Putting the trans in gear while at a stop and while idling will become darn near impossible or similar to trying to put it in gear without the clutch depressed.|

After I posted this I drove few more times and noise was there but almost not audible. So it is pretty much quiet again.

|Remus_Redbone||Throw out bearing is most likely, about 90% chance. Pilot bearing is least likely. Sometimes the throw out bearing will rattle on the trans input shaft when at idle and make a lot of noise when the bearing is actually ok. The fact that it's not making any noise when you push in the clutch supports that. If you start having shifting problems or hear some noise with the clutch depressed, TO bearing may be dying. Requires trans removal to replace, at which time you would want to seriously consider a new clutch & pp.|

|fan of fanboys||I am guessing maybe clutch bearing? Possibly pilot bearing. Just from a quick google search. That sound right? And if so easy fix?|

Have an 01 manual and recently, especially today, when I'm sitting at idle and clutch pedal is not pressed there is an awful noise. It is not present while driving or when I press clutch pedal. Any ideas? Do I need a new clutch soon or just maintenance?
The vehicle has 80450 miles on it. No issues changing gears.
